Organizational context and job purpose

The Chocolate Bayou Works site is located in Southeastern Texas about 40 miles south of Houston and consists of two Olefin units that produce approximately 3bn pounds/year of ethylene, 2 Polypropylene units that produce approximately 800m pounds/ year of polypropylene,  storage and transfer facilities at Stratton Ridge.  The site also provides knowledge sharing support and functional guidance through relationships with the PE / PP facilities at Battleground and the Hobbs gas processing facility in New Mexico, with the headquarters located in League City, TX. 

How the Role Fits In:

The Working Team Leader would is responsible for ensuring I/E resources are scheduled and available in support of Utilities operations at Chocolate Bayou Works.

The position supervises hourly I/E maintenance technicians and is jointly accountable for the coordination of safe, reliable, and cost-efficient delivery of maintenance I&E services to the business.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

Accountability 1:  SHE Stewardship

  • The position is accountable for understanding and putting into practice the INEOS 20 Principles. Additionally, the team leader has a special responsibility to cascade the understanding of these principles through their team.
  • Leads by example, remains in compliance with and ensures work group is also in compliance with CBW SHE policies and procedures.
  • Leads the work group’s efforts in promoting and demonstrating safe behaviors through personal and team participation in SHE activities including incident investigations, HAZOP's, audits, near miss reporting, observations, housekeeping and in reviewing team and others' safety incidents and near misses.
  • Ensure SHE delivery, compliance and self-verification processes for departmental maintenance activities.
  • Provide team support and participation in processes such as MOC and SHE procedure reviews, audits and observations.
  • Lead/coordinate monthly safety meetings covering reviews of site procedures.
  • Follow up on safety issues and report both safety and environmental incidents in the Traction reporting system.
  • Conduct monthly Safety and Environmental Housekeeping Inspections per procedure.

Accountability 2:  Leadership

  • Lead daily team reviews of all upcoming work performed per the schedule, identifying safety hazards and communicating shared learnings.
  • Lead a coordinated effort for all repair and PM activities through the shared management process.
  • Provide team support and participation in processes such as MOC and SHE procedure reviews, audits and observations.
  • Recognize good performance of employees and initiate coaching as appropriate.
  • Coordinate maintenance services and repairs with outside contractors and vendors.
  • Ensure contracted IE hourly personnel are scheduled and available to support unit requirements including overtime, holidays, special circumstances, etc.
  • Coordinate site manpower requirements with other WTLs.
  • Oversee technician training and rotate jobs to ensure training and familiarity purposes.
  • Support unit planner with preparing job plans and attending all planning meetings.
  • Ensure team meets work standards for quality and productivity.
  • Understand and maintain WTL responsibilities and unit maintenance requirements consistent with retaining ISO-9002 and ISO-14001 certification.

Accountability 2:  Technical

  • Working familiarity with the operation and repair of various I/E equipment and instrumentation.
  • Review Repairable Report from storehouse and provide feedback to storehouse on issues raised. 
  • Coordinate review of IE job packages for maintenance concerns.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and initiate reliability improvements.
  • Identify and implement recommendations that will reduce maintenance spending without compromising SHE performance or unit productivity.
  • Support planner in creating job plans for work associated with unit and furnace shutdowns.
  • Expedite equipment required to make repairs as needed outside of normal planning channels.
  • Support planning and scheduling processes by preparing job plans and attend all planning meetings.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Required Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent  
  • Associates Degree, in I&E or related field preferred

Required Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in chemical, refining or industrial manufacturing; 7 plus years of practical maintenance experience is preferred
  • Preferred applicants are individuals currently functioning in an I&E Relief Working Team Leader or I&E Working Team Leader position at Chocolate Bayou, and/or have previous equivalent experience in a maintenance I&E function at Chocolate Bayou Works
