Job Purpose
The post holder is responsible for to provide VAT expertise for all in scope INOVYN UK legal entities along with in scope INEOS legal entities, to be the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with HMRC regulations. Through partnerships with external agencies, manage and maintain compliance with EU regulations.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
- Manage relationships and communication with other members of Finance, including those in overseas entities, and with non-finance teams such as Purchasing and Sales departments across the business, to understand and determine the requirements of the business, advising the business on the implementation of new VAT laws and regulations.
- Manage relationships with representatives of UK and EU fiscal authorities, and with the INEOS Group VAT team, with respect to formal audit visits and ad hoc queries. Ensure all necessary information and explanations are accurate and provided in a timely manner.
- Responsible for ensuring INOVYN complies with all monthly, quarterly and annual tax authority requirements for the INOVYN UK legal entities for GB and EU VAT, ensuring all that data provided is accurate and all deadlines are met, in order to avoid fines and penalties.
- Responsible for the accurate accounting of import duty and import VAT for INOVYN UK Legal entities. Ensure that all amounts reclaimable by the businesses are recovered on time and in full via the VAT return process.
- Responsible for all VAT related general ledger accounts. Ensure they are accurate, fully reconciled and understood each month. As part of the annual statutory audit, provide meaningful information to the auditors to help them understand all ledger balances and movements.
Key skills and Knowledge
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant, ideally with appropriate tax qualification.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a VAT accountant in or for large multinational manufacturing organisations.
- In-depth knowledge of UK and EU VAT laws and regulations, which must be kept up to date.
- Proficient with accounting software, preferably SAP R/3. Advanced Excel skills.
- Strong data analysis and management skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly at all levels to both finance and non-finance staff.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Exceptionally high concern for standards.
- Good problem solving skill.
- Good time management and ability to meet deadlines.
