Turnaround / Planning Superintendent

PURPOSE/FUNCTION: 

The Turnaround Superintendent will provide leadership and direction to the Planning & Scheduling team, as well as having accountability for the execution of all site TARs.  This position works to ensure compliance to the Turnaround Common Process (TCP), thereby reducing risk and maximizing benefit associated with TAR resource expenditures. 

ROLES:  

  • This position – and all positions – within the INEOS Aromatics organization requires that the incumbent commit to learning, following, and practicing the INEOS Aromatics 20 Principles of Process and Behavioral Safety as applicable to the position.  Each employee must also commit to following the INEOS Aromatics Life-Saving rules and the site SHE Policies and Procedures including Stop Work Authority and Safe Work Guidelines on a daily basis.
  • This jobholder must lead, support and promote/drive adherence to the 20 Principles for Managing Behavioral Safety and Process Safety and the Lifesaving Rules.
  • Leads the safety effort of assigned team by setting expectations, participating, and leading SHE activities for their role.   Some of these activities include: Risk Assessments, training, incident investigations, Safety Observations and audits.  Completes corrective actions arising from those activities
  • Serves as a member of the Maintenance and Engineering leadership team
  • Supervises the Planning & Scheduling team and provides appropriate coaching and guidance
  • Ensures Planning, Scheduling and TAR execution processes are well-documented in site procedures and the procedures are rigorously followed
  • Routinely assess performance of TAR, Planning & Scheduling and Inspection functions at Cooper River and makes appropriate plans to deliver continuous improvement in these areas.                   
  • Single Point of Accountability for systematic, safe and efficient delivery of site TARs        
  • Ensures progress on identified Annual Operating Plan (AOP) activities within their area of responsibility        
  • Ensures appropriate development plans are in place and being progressed for personnel on the team                 
  • Provides input on site Reliability Strategy and Project portfolio

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Facilitates Core and Steering team meetings that serve as check-ins on progress associated with TAR’s and TCP.
  • Identifies, captures and helps mitigate risks identified toward goal delivery with TARs and TCP.
  • Track cost and schedule performance for site TARs and ensure accurate and timely information is available to the TAR steering team
  • Monitor function of processes for prioritization and execution of all maintenance work to meet plant wide needs and intervene when needed
  • Work with stakeholders to find the optimum solution for the company when priorities conflict between groups.
  • Guides the Planning and Scheduling team towards delivery of safe, accurate and executable job plans and helps align the scheduling to deliver site goals.
  • Recognize excellent performance within the team
  • Monitor progress towards agreed goals and intervene in a timely manner to achieve corrections when needed
  • Monitor performance of the team against agreed delivery goals and respond appropriately
  • Responsible for understanding maintenance metrics            
  • Provide support to Unit Engineers and Projects Group
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction
  • Assist in troubleshooting problems and in root cause failure analysis
  • Conduct safety audits of maintenance activities, use of PPE, procedures, etc.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Science degree or commensurate experience
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience associated with Industrial Planning and Scheduling
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience associated with Industrial Plant unit Maintenance outages
