The O&P USA business includes the product lines Ethylene, Propylene, Butadiene, Polypropylene and Polyethylene.  Manufacturing sites include Chocolate Bayou Works (Alvin, TX), Battleground Manufacturing Complex (LaPorte, TX),

How the Role Fits in:

The Turnaround (TAR) Planner will report to the TAR Planning and Scheduling Lead and responsible for the development of the approved scope in accordance with the TAR planning and scheduling work practices and procedures.

The Main Purpose of the Role:

The Turnaround Planner is accountable for the thorough and accurate planning of turnaround work, ensuring all planned activities are in accordance with site’s Safety, Health, Environmental and Security (SHES) requirements and in compliance with established codes, procedures, and good work practices.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

  • Responsible for implementation of the INEOS 20 principles through the detailed TAR job plans
  • Interact with responsible INEOS work groups to determine and develop full scope of work for each SAP notification / work order including testing requirements for mechanical acceptance of completed work in the field
  • Create detailed and comprehensive job plans in accordance with TAR planning and scheduling work processes and procedures

Front-End Loading

  • Responsible for gathering all necessary documentation (P&ID, Plot Plans, Loop Drawings, Spec Sheets, U-1 forms, One-Lines, Spec Sheets, Safety Procedures, Maintenance Procedures etc.) needed for developing a detailed TAR job package
  • Conduct field walks to determine job requirements needed such as scaffold, insulation removal, blinding, I&E disconnect, instrumentation disconnect and removals, etc.
  • Document and markup photos of job site with job scope, blind locations, electrical disconnects, disconnect/remove instrumentation, and insulation removal.
  • Plan mechanical and piping work scopes such as opening exchangers, towers, drums, columns, filters for cleaning and internal inspections.
  • Create isometric drawings as needed.
  • Create detailed job plans that include logical job activities with necessary resources and durations needed to complete work scope.
  • Creating full and complete bill of materials (BOM) for each job plan.
  • Assist TAR scheduler in developing the TAR schedule by prioritizing job plans and helping to develop internal job logic ties and identifying jobs that can work together.
  • Identifying any long lead materials or equipment needed and work with Procurement to obtain quotes and create requisitions.
  • Plan Capital IFC work as required
  • Audit engineering project orders for assigned area to ensure complete information is assigned
  • Audit repairable and non-stock parts to ensure availability and adjust inventory as required.

Continuous Improvements

  • Use feedback from completed TAR to continuously improve and update reusable job plans
  • Participate in TAR debriefs and Lessons Learned Workshops to assist in identifying issues and solutions to drive continuous improvement
  • Resolve material issues on work orders that have been cancelled after material has been ordered or purchased.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Education/Experience

The successful candidate should preferentially have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in chemical, refining or industrial manufacturing
  • 12+ years in capital or turnaround projects planning and/or scheduling

Technical skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of materials, equipment, its design and function
  • Ability to read, understand and follow technical specifications
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings, such as P&ID’s and equipment drawings
  • Thorough understanding of construction quality assurance and quality control requirements
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Proficient in office productivity software such as Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge or proficient in Primavera (P6) scheduling software
  • Dependent on past experience, must have strong working knowledge in at least one or preferably multiple discipline areas in mechanical equipment, piping, instrumentation or electrical:
  • Piping, vessels, towers, heat exchangers, and other fixed equipment.
  • Rotating equipment (Pumps, motor, extruders, compressors)
  • Exposure to various mechanical repairs and techniques, such as welding and piping fabrication and repair, heat exchanger repair

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and effectively handle multiple projects and/or changing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work with diverse groups in sometimes time-compressed situations to gain consensus and a clear path forward
