INEOS Olefins & Polymers, one of the nation’s largest chemical companies, has immediate openings for Maintenance I&E Technician for its Chocolate Bayou facility outside of Alvin, Texas.  

The Olefins & Polymers USA division of INEOS is one of the largest producers of olefins and polyolefins in North America. From its manufacturing locations at Chocolate Bayou and the Battleground Manufacturing Complex, it is a merchant marketer of butadiene, ethylene, polypropylene and high-density polyethylene with annual revenue of over $4b. 

The Chocolate Bayou Site is located in Southeastern Texas about 40 miles South of Houston and consists of two Olefins units that produce approximately 3bn pounds/year of ethylene, 2 Polypropylene units that produce approximately 800m pounds/ year of polypropylene, and the Light Ends storage & transfer facilities at Stratton Ridge.

Maintenance I&E Technicians are tasked with daily application of expertise to ensure the safe and reliable operation of site process plants and reducing operating costs. This is accomplished by executing assigned work according to plan and schedule, noting any job plan deviations, and providing input on improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities:

The basic function of the Maintenance I&E Technician is to perform following duties: install, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair and adjust plant critical equipment, such as motors, circuits, valves, and required analyzers 

Specific Skill Requirements -

  • Calibrate instrument/analyzers to desired range using proper test equipment and calibration standards

  • Troubleshoot motor and motor starter circuits and repair as needed up to 5KV

  • Provide field instrumentation support for all process equipment. The systems maintained utilize pneumatic, hydraulic, electro-mechanical and electronic elements and tie into a LAN or SCADA system.

  • Develop work plans covering installation, calibration, inspection, and troubleshooting tasks, to minimize production impacts and enhance the reliability of the operation.

  • Assist in maintaining instrumentation.

  • Participation in incident investigation and corrective action development as a part of a continuous program improvement.

  • Support other mechanics and operators

  • Repair, test, and calibrate control valves for proper operation

  • Troubleshoot and repair light circuits

  • Troubleshoot a complete loop from measuring element to final control, both electronic and pneumatic, element.

  • Use PCs/mainframe computers to maintain records of calibrations, SPC charts, part ordering, etc.

  • Communicate with co-workers, team leader, and other departments on status of projects and equipment (verbally and/or in writing).

  • Required to maintain a constant awareness of personal safety and the safety of other personnelThis includes knowledge of procedures and rules. 

  • Responsible for maintaining housekeeping in area of responsibility.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of five (5) years full-time practical experience in process instrumentation in petrochemical, refinery, pulp/paper or a related industry;

OR

  • Two (2) year Associates technical degree in Instrumentation, electronics, computer repair, process control, or other related technical field, OR successful completion of the ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) Program or equivalent certification.

All applicants MUST be able to acquire a TWIC card
