Business Context:
INEOS Electrochemical Solutions (IES) undertakes research, develops, manufactures, and sells world-class electrolysers and electrode coatings that produce chlor-alkali products such as chlorine, caustic soda, hypochlorite, and hydrogen. Additionally, IES provides Technical Support and Electrode Refurbishment services to our customers in over 35 countries across the world.
Purpose of the Job:
To provide technical service and account management to Chlor-alkali plants licensing BiChlor™ and FM™ Technologies. To commission Chlor-Alkali plants licensing BiChlor™ and FM™ Technologies.
This job is remote in nature, requiring that the job holder is expected to take technical and commercial decisions with a high degree of autonomy in a variety of global locations and cultures.
In addition to the technical expertise required, this role requires commercial awareness to identify and maximize opportunist sales. These can often only be identified and secured by the Technical Service Manager, so building and maintaining excellent customer relationships is a foundation key.
Industry Information:
The chlor-alkali industry is a mature market with over 100 years since the first plant became operational in the USA. The chlor-alkali industry market has continued to grow to support the production of cleaning products, water disinfection, building materials, pharmaceuticals, paper production, and many other end products. The industry has continued to typically grow at 2-4%/year, leading to increased demands at existing plants and the continual stream of expansions at existing facilities and development of new plants.
IES has been growing chlor-alkali market share and is now a leading provider of this technology, support, and electrolyzer components in the Americas.
Responsibilities AND Accountabilities
- Proactive provision of expert technical advice and solutions to chlor-alkali industry customers.
- Develop, manage, and deliver key account plans for customers and provide accurate forecasts of customer requirements.
- Negotiate prices and contracts for supply of equipment and for any associated warranty claims.
- Lead the commissioning activity for new cell-rooms and expansions for BiChlor™ and FM™21 technology.
- Develop and manage customer refurbishment programmes.
- Train customer personnel in management of the supplied technology to achieve safe and optimal performance.
- Maintain and continue to enhance the industry leading reputation for IES technology.
- Actively participate in chlor-alkali industry events and technical symposiums.
- Help to deliver the desired financial contributions to meet expected business goals.
Education/Experience
- Proven chemical plant operations experience; chlor-alkali plant operations experience is advantageous.
- Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience in working with multicultural teams and in managing technical and business development relationships.
- Experience of commercial customer interactions e.g. sales and negotiation.
- Confident and capable for public speaking at customer events and conferences.
- Data interrogation and analysis to drive process improvements and technology development.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of process, products, and technologies in the chemical industry.
- Strong technical and marketing skills to detect and develop new market opportunities.
