Job Objective

The Tech Support Manager role supervises Technical Support activities and provide leadership, guidance, and expertise to associated staff while maintaining a safe working environment.  The position is responsible for managing the Technical Support group and for the planning and management of a broad range of technical support and applications development activities supporting the full range of INEOS Pigments’ product lines globally.  The position also serves as Technical Service representative for key accounts and international accounts.  The position works closely with R&D, Commercial, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Product Stewardship colleagues to establish and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and a strong and positive market presence for INEOS Pigments’ products.

Key Responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to:

  • Plans, directs and coordinates the activities of the technical customer support team for the full range of INEOS Pigments’ product lines globally
  • Oversees provision of broad range of technical services to customers to optimize product utilization and customer satisfaction
  • Works with R&D and Customers supporting applications research, product development and pre-industrialization activities
  • Oversees provision of Technical Training and development of value selling tools for Sales and Marketing staff
  • Maintains effective external contacts to support monitoring of technological developments in current and emerging market sectors
  • Coordinates the technical review and benchmarking of INEOS and competitor products on an on-going basis
  • Manages budgets, human and technical resources to enable efficient delivery of the Technical Customer Support Program
  • Contributes to the development of wider Technology and Commercial policies, procedures and operational strategies and plans
  • Understand safety and environmental goals and objectives for the plant and department
  • Champion and promote a strong safety culture ensuring adherence to the INEOS Pigments Safety and Behavioral Principles and Life Saving Rules
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional project teams
  • Participate in HAZOP & PHA reviews
  • Develop Product Data Sheets and Specifications
  • Work with various functional teams, including Safety, Process Engineering, R&D, Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, and Distribution
  • Assist Manufacturing in troubleshooting production issues by bringing perspective representative of customers’ interests

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field. Master’s degree preferred 
  • A minimum of twelve (12) years of demonstrated experience within a manufacturing or commercial environment with preference in technical service, applications development and/or research and development activities
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of supervisory experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office, SAP, Excel, Minitab
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams and across different locations
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time
  • Previous experience with leading teams and executing technical support projects across multiple market sectors and/or product platforms
  • Ability to work independently and on teams
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize appropriately
  • Display sound judgment and attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong project management and planning skills
  • Knowledgeable about chemical process operations and distribution issues
  • Comfortable working with sophisticated IT products at the user level
