Business Context: 

The O&P USA business includes the product lines Ethylene, Propylene, Butadiene, Polypropylene and Polypropylene.  Manufacturing sites include Chocolate Bayou Works (Alvin, TX), Battleground Manufacturing Complex (LaPorte, TX), and Carson (Carson, CA), with a division office in League City, TX. 

How the Role Fits In:

The position requires the ability to lead a team of logistics professionals against contract execution, SHEQ objectives, business goals and cost and operating improvements in an environment of conflicting and changing priorities to meet the Site performance contract and the Supply Chain Operations performance contract.  This position has 4 direct reports plus contractor oversight responsibility.

The Main Purpose of the Role: 

The Team Lead, Site Logistics – BMC is responsible for the overall coordination of site logistics including management of third party supply chain service providers.  Primary functional areas of responsibility include rail operations, rail car wash, rail yard and inventory management, RailManager system and interface management, rail track maintenance, additive/catalyst warehousing and plant shipping.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

  • Promote, ensure and sustain commitment to operations with no harm to people and to the environment by visibly demonstrating Safety Leadership.
  • Support and lead Site logistics SHEQ activities, meetings, and inspections to ensure compliance with Site/Supply Chain Operations policies and procedures.
  • Promote, ensure and sustain appropriate employee and management involvement in SHEQ systems and processes.
  • Support environmental activities to ensure compliance with Site standards and federal, state and local regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Management of Change (MOC), incident reporting, investigations and action items.
  • Facilitate/prioritize the activities of site logistics to meet the performance goals for Supply Chain Operations, the Site and the Business.
  • Actively share lessons in operations performance and best operating practices across the Site and Supply Chain Operations organizations to include other manufacturing locations.
  • Support the manufacturing team and Supply Chain Operations personnel to identify and execute improvement opportunities in the areas of SHEQ, Reliability, Cost savings, and Productivity.
  • Provide operations management of embedded and external service providers.
  • Support the quality management process and provide oversight to the day-to-day activities of site logistics to ensure operations meets or exceeds the requirements of customers and other stakeholders.
  • Support the Site Manager, the Site Logistics Manager and the Supply Chain Manager in the ongoing management of financial forecast, prioritization and allocation of resources to meet cost objectives versus approved budget.
  • Support safe operation of the on-site hopper car repair shop and bulk truck loading facility.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Education/Experience

  • Associates degree or higher or equivalent experience in logistics or manufacturing with operating experience obtained through progressive advancement in functional roles.
  • Five years of experience in supply chain or manufacturing operations.
