The Position: Sustainability Commercial Manager  -

Lead, manage and coordinate all efforts related to Circular Economy strategy and initiatives for INEOS Styrolution America based on our global GEAR-Up Strategy.

Responsible for working directly with development partners on advance recycling, super clean mechanical recycling, feedstock sourcing and other strategic projects from inception through implementation. Activities include preparation and execution of development agreements, business case development, coordinating samples and trials, acting as a liaison between external partners and internal resources (e.g., RDC, SM group, Global R&D and the sustainability team) and regional functions such as business, logistics and operations. Provide commercial and technical support to development partners.

Represent INEOS Styrolution at national and international stages promoting company’s stand on sustainability and recycling (both chemical and mechanical recycling). Lead INEOS Styrolution’s advocacy activities in the Americas with the objective to safeguard and defend the position of Styrenics. Develop and manage all advocacy efforts related to ongoing and future sustainability challenges for the Americas and coordinating efforts with global counterparts. Lobby on behalf of INEOS Styrolution and maximize outreach to influence policies related to avoiding bans and promoting all kinds of recycling with focus on chemical recycling and circular economy at local, state, and federal levels. Work closely with industry associations (ACC PFPG, FPI, FRC, CPIA, CIAC) and position INEOS Styrolution as the circular economy leader. Trend scouting of new and current technologies and its feasibility assessment for potential contribution to the company’s circular economy and sustainability goals based on GEAR-UP Strategy. Engage with CGC (consumer goods companies), NGO’s, legislators, etc., interested in circular economy and sustainability and provide a platform to them to ensure proper communication of respective activities.

Act as the circular economy ambassador educating customers and the general public on the value of circular economy and benefits of Styrenics in strategic segments like food service and food packaging applications, durables, medical, etc.

Lead a team of 3 FTE’s responsible for key strategic areas in advocacy, feedstock sourcing and market development for ECO products to reach GEAR-UP strategic goals.

What you will do:  

  • Lead and manage the Circular Economy core team composed of Advocacy, feedstock and market development managers. Set and deliver goals.
  • Mentor, lead, coach and manage Circular Economy specialist team.
  • Accountable for driving circular economy initiatives (in partnership with Encina, Pyrowave, Agilyx, and other partners to be identified) to commercial implementation.
  • Explore strategic partnerships including M&A, JDAs, etc., in the circular economy world both upstream (feedstock) and downstream – analyze and recommend capital and non-capital projects, liaise with assigned project managers to ensure capital projects are completed in a timely manner and on budget.
  • Represent INEOS Styrolution on external efforts related to Circular Economy and participate in external organizations (ACC, FPI, etc) to help on advocacy efforts and promote circularity of styrenics.
  • Support business and sales in reversing the effects of bad perception, misinterpretation, etc., through identifying actions and programs with customers and support profitable growth at new and existing accounts
  • Develop and enhance portfolio of accounts through relationship management of key contacts within customers’ organization by capitalizing on company’s leadership in circular economy.
  • Perform market and industry analysis. Improve market intelligence by developing an external network for gathering information on trends, market developments and potential new accounts/applications.
  • In coordination with business and sales directors, develop sales plans and priorities for ECO product line including customer prioritization based on available supply of PCR or Bio-attributed products.
  • Act as a key strategic interface between business, R&D, technology and development partners for all circular economy related topics.
  • Develop a Circular Economy communication strategy with internal and external partners to promote the circularity and sustainability of styrenics.

What you will bring: 

Level of education & knowledge:

  • University degree, in Chemical Engineering, material / polymer science, chemistry, business administration, marketing or related subjects.
  • Fluent in English (speaking and writing). A second language is a plus.
  • Master’s Degree is a plus (Science, Business, Marketing).

Experience in general:

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in business, operations, commodity markets, marketing, preferred.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of chemistry, financial analysis and business acumen
  • Project management skills
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Financial and analytical skills to support business and new development projects
  • Experience in plastics, polymers, composites, etc., desired. Styrenics experience is a plus.
