Subsea and Pipelines engineering Manager

INEOS Energy operates a number of fields in the North Sea in both Denmark and the UK. In the UK this includes Breagh, Clipper South and the recently awarded Greater Pegasus Area licenses. As part of the 33rd Licensing Round, INEOS Energy have recently been awarded Pegasus West and Greater Pegasus Area licenses. 

About the Job  

We are looking for a Subsea and Pipelines Manager to lead the Pegasus West subsea and pipelines project scope, other asset developments and projects. They will work closely with other INEOS functions and with contractors for engineering studies, fabrication and construction. 

The role will report to the Head of Projects and Engineering UK functionally and to the Pegasus West Project Manager.  

Key responsibilities 

SHEQ 

  • Be a leader and advocate for INEOS safety principles and behaviors. 
  • Work closely with the SHEQ Manager to establish project specific safety and QA/QC plans with rigorous application of company and industry standards throughout each of the project phases. 
  • Ensure safety management systems are in place and functioning to ensure safe execution of Project and Engineering deliverables, including subsequent operation of the asset. 

Pipelines and Subsea 

  • Lead and manage study work scopes executed by external contractors. 
  • Monitor contractors’ performance during the execution of studies and contracts. Intervene as necessary to correct any issues. 
  • Be the owner of, prepare and maintain key technical documents such as Scope of Work, Basis of Design and Functional Specification.   
  • Responsible for the development of all subsea and pipelines scope, ensuring that they are optimal, fit-for-purpose and compliant with INEOS requirements (e.g., with Basis of Design and Scope of Work documents) and relevant codes and standards. 
  • Responsible for the pipelines design and tie-ins to existing infrastructure 
  • Responsible for definition of survey requirements and execution of surveys to support project requirements 
  • Ensure that all engineering and construction activities follow good engineering practice. 
  • Review contractors’ design, methods, procedures, risk assessments. 
  • Evaluate possible cost and other consequences of changes and variation orders. 
  • Ensure coordination with other disciplines and third party tie-ins to ensure no gaps in design. 
  • Assist and participate in project / facilities assurance reviews (e.g., design reviews, ENVID, HAZID, HAZOPs) to ensure INEOS's safety and technical quality objectives are met.  
  • Participate in risk management including preparation, maintenance and close out of risks identified in the risk register. 
  • Develop scope and technical definition to for the Define phase and provide input to the Define Invitation To Tender. 
  • Ensure that experience and learnings from existing facilities are obtained from relevant parties and incorporated into the design. 
  • Participate in Value Improvement Practices to ensure the technology and associated costs meet the project objectives. 
  • Coordinate the technical reviews and facilities peer review prior to project decision gates.  

 

Desired experience 

The following experience is desirable:  

  • 15+ years experience in Oil & Gas engineering activities, either with another production operator, or contractor/supplier to the O&G industry 
  • Experience as Subsea, Pipelines Engineering Manager or similar role with responsibility for executing or overseeing engineering and construction activities
  • Experience of coordination of engineering and offshore vessel construction and HUC activities
  • Experience from Select, Define and Execute phases 
  • Relevant experience of subsea and pipelines developments in the UKCS 
  • Experience of capital projects >250m$ 
  • Greenfield and brownfield experience  
  • Familiarity with staged gate project execution model
  • Familiarity with MS office package
  • Good written and presentation communication skills

Education 

  • Degree level engineering qualification, and  
  • Chartered discipline engineer or Chartered Project Professional (ChPP)  

 

Location  

  • The role will be based in INEOS UKs offices in London and is predominantly office based.
  • Frequent travel to contractors’ offices is envisaged.
