Role Information
This position is responsible for supporting the technical needs of the cumene unit and implementing capital projects to improve the site; meeting goals safely and effectively in accordance with company policies and all environmental regulations. A large part of this role is to function as a project engineer and project manager for small capital projects, responsible for the technical aspects as well as project execution.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
SHE Stewardship
oMaintain safety as the highest priority and adhere to, as well as promote, the Life Saving Rules.
oUnderstand and promote the INEOS “20 Principles”.
oAssist in meeting regulatory requirements assigned to the facility including EPA/Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), OSHA, and DOT regulations.
oComplete MOC for projects, ensure hazards are assessed and training and PSSR are complete before start-up.
Work Duties
oLearn the process technology and unit operations, investigate opportunities for energy and emission reduction, and improve site systems and procedures.
oSupport future process modifications and expansions.
oProvide technical support to the Production Engineer and Operations group as needed.
oInterface with all levels of management, maintenance and operations personnel.
oAssist in the implementation to achieve, and keep up with PSM.
oReview and approve as appropriate all detailed project engineering deliverables.
oWrite reports to document project progress and to identify problems with the project.
oSet up and participate in inspection activities and equipment testing.
oFollow up on project implementation progress and contingency run down.
oCoordinate safety walk downs and all punch list activities for projects.
oAssist in developing the site CapEx plan and prepare cost analysis for potential projects.
oVerify that detailed engineering is done in accordance with all documents, plans, specifications, descriptions and procedures during all stages of the project.
oAssist in procurement and construction activities.
oParticipate in development and implementation of pre-commissioning and commissioning plan.
oOrganize close out of projects with all plant departments.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGEREQUIRED
Education/Experience
oBS Chemical Engineering Degree
o7-10 years of relevant experience in plant/project roles
Skills/Competencies
oSelf-starter
oAble to work to propose solutions with minimal guidance
oProblem solving
oHigh level of communication skills both written and verbal
oBudgeting and cost control
oSAP and CAD experience are a plus

Physical Requirements
oAbility to wear required PPE: Hardhat, safety glasses, chemical goggles, rigid safety shoes/boots, full/half face cartridge masks.
oAbility to climb several flights of stairs.
oAbility to climb fixed ladder cages at heights of 30 ft. at a time.
oUnderstanding of proper lifting techniques and body mechanics: Climbing, balance, bend/stoop, kneeling, reaching, lifting, carrying.
Possible Conditions to be Subjected to:
Sedentary Work with occasional field study.Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions primarily and occasional exposure to outside elements.
