We are seeking an experienced Financial Reporting Senior Accountant to support the financial reporting and technical accounting functions of our US Gulf business. This role is responsible for the preparation and review of both IFRS and U.S. GAAP financial statements, coordination with external auditors and technical accounting analysis. The ideal candidate brings oil & gas accounting experience, a CPA, and prior public accounting experience, with the ability to own deliverables and drive process improvements within an agile, entrepreneurial team.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial reporting schedules in compliance with IFRS to support monthly, quarterly and annual close processes
  • Prepare annual U.S. GAAP financial statements for U.S. legal entities
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting in compliance with internal policies and external requirements
  • Serve as primary liaison with external auditors, including coordination of audit schedules and responses to audit requests
  • Prepare comprehensive audit deliverables, including preparation of quarterly analysis and fulfillment of documentation requests to support quarterly reviews and annual audits performed by external auditors
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management
  • Lead internal control processes and champion continuous accounting process improvement initiatives
  • Partner cross-functionally with Asset, Legal, and Commercial teams to understand transactions and ensure appropriate accounting treatment
  • Research, assess, and document technical accounting matters under both IFRS and U.S. GAAP, with emphasis on upstream oil & gas topics including asset retirement obligations, impairments, revenue recognition, joint arrangements and acquisitions/divestitures
  • Draft accounting memos and support positions on complex or non‑routine transactions
  • Monitor and implement new accounting standards and assess impacts to the business

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, active CPA license required
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with upstream or integrated oil and gas industry experience
  • Public accounting experience (audit or accounting advisory), with oil & gas clients preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS and U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience utilizing an enterprise-grade ERP system (SAP preferred)
  • Experience with legal entity financial statements and multi entity structures
  • Exposure to acquisitions, divestitures, impairments, and reserve based accounting concepts
  • Strong technical accounting and analytical skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to see issues from a “big picture” perspective
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, able to interact skillfully with senior leadership and external auditors
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
