FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system that transports over 200k barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea.

Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus flow through pipelines into FPS. FPS transports crude oil and gas liquids from offshore and onshore entry points, processes the liquids at Kinneil and redelivers to the customer Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and either Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth.

The FPS business has around 500 personnel working across multiple locations including Grangemouth and Aberdeen and is comprised of both onshore and offshore facilities and 1500km of pipeline.

Job Purpose

This key role is accountable for development and delivery of the business wide SHEQ Management strategy to enable FPS to operate in a safe, efficient and sustainable manner to meet, or where practicable, exceed relevant legislative and group requirements in pursuit of SHEQ excellence.  This will include specific strategies for SHE, Risk, Quality and Facilities & Estates areas.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Reporting to the FPS Board, the post holder will provide SHEQ Leadership for the business and maintain effective relationships with all regulatory bodies.
  • Provides direct leadership to a team of c. 20 staff and contractor personnel;
  • Ensure leadership oversight on adherence and compliance to key enabling processes including Project Reviews, Management of Change (MoC) activities, Operational Risk Assessments (ORAs), Peer Reviews, ALARP workshops etc. to verify that risks are appropriately managed across the business;
  • Develop a culture of SHEQ excellence amongst all FPS staff through a combination of processes and management led initiatives and the implementation of an annual SHEQ delivery plan.
  • Provide competent cross functional advice and leadership on risk based regulatory principles such as ALARP, BAT and SFAIRP to enable informed decisions to be made relating to legislative requirements.
  • Define appropriate Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for SHEQ related activities to enable effective measurement of performance, taking action on themes and trends as appropriate.
  • Ensures that SHEQ standards and requirements are adequately described, audited and maintained within the business management system framework

Qualifications, knowledge and Skills

  • Relevant degree in Engineering, Science, related SHE subject matter and  / or significant experience in senior operational role(s);
  • Chartered member of appropriate industry institute.
  • Successful candidates will likely have extensive experience in a similar role ideally in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Possess strong influencing and communication skills and experience of working with and managing Board / Executive Stakeholder interaction;
  • Experience and ability to manage external relationships with regulators and other key stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong communication, engagement and coaching skills, with a capacity to influence SHEQ matters at all levels within an organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of industry (onshore and offshore) SHEQ legislation, permitting and reporting requirements (both internal and external).
  • Detailed understanding of Management System and Continuous Improvement principles.
