Job Title
SHE Manager- Aromatics   

Location: Texas City, Texas

The Position:

The HSS&E and Quality Leader is responsible for leading all Health, Safety, Security, Environmental, and Quality (HSS&E/Q) activities for the integrated Texas City Site. This role serves on the Site Leadership Team and provides strategic direction, subject‑matter expertise, and oversight to ensure compliance with company standards and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.This role operates within a dynamic manufacturing environment and must effectively balance operational priorities with SHEQ performance, regulatory compliance, and corporate expectations.

What you will do:

  • Lead SHEQ Excellence for the Site: Serve as the accountable leader for Personal and Process Safety, Security, Emergency Response, Health/Medical, Environmental, and Quality functions, reporting directly to the Site Director and supporting site operating goals in partnership with the Leadership Team.
  • Set Strategy and Drive Performance: Develop and execute the site’s long‑term SHEQ strategy aligned with corporate objectives, site leadership plans, and business unit priorities; lead tactical initiatives, champion corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement through performance metrics.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management: Act as the site authority for Risk Management Programs and Process Safety Management (PSM), ensuring effective identification, evaluation, prioritization, and mitigation of SHEQ risks, and advising leadership on emerging regulatory requirements and compliance plans.
  • Manage Audits, Permitting, and Reporting: Oversee internal and external audits, regulatory permitting and renewals, compliance assurance systems, and timely submission of all regulatory and internal SHEQ reports; manage follow‑up actions to ensure sustained compliance.
  • Lead Safety, Security, and Emergency Response Programs: Implement INEOS Safety Principles, Life‑Saving Rules, and Group Guidance Notes; drive process safety execution; oversee site security programs; and provide leadership to emergency response organizations, ensuring readiness through training, drills, and incident participation.
  • Oversee Environmental, Health, and Quality Systems: Lead environmental programs, agency engagement, environmental monitoring, and ISO 14001 certification; oversee site medical services and industrial hygiene programs; and ensure effective ISO 9001 compliance and audit readiness.
  • Develop People and External Partnerships: Lead and develop the SHEQ team and contract service providers; ensure workforce SHEQ training and competency; support turnarounds and special projects; and represent the site with community groups, industry associations, regulators, and emergency planning organizations.

What you will bring:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or related technical degree required.
  • At least 10 years chemical or petrochemical manufacturing experience, with an understanding of SHE compliance and performance issues.
  • Personnel management experience preferred.

Technical skills:

  • Technical & Regulatory Expertise: Strong working knowledge of petrochemical industry standards, including Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Programs (RMP), environmental, health, and safety regulations, permitting processes (air, water, waste), and quality and environmental management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001), with experience leading or facilitating key risk and compliance processes.
  • Leadership, Risk & Emergency Management: Proven ability to identify and manage SHEQ risks, lead and coach site safety and emergency response teams, oversee contractors and critical services, and direct effective emergency and incident response systems, including EOC operations and incident command or continuity planning.
  • Problem Solving & Business Acumen: Demonstrated capability to apply technical knowledge to complex situations, proactively resolve issues, engage appropriate expertise, support community relations, and leverage systems, data, and tools to make sound, business‑focused decisions in a dynamic operating environment.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At INEOS Styrolution, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are carefully made based on the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
