Job Title: Senior Geophysicist Department: Subsurface
Summary of Position
We are seeking a highly experienced Geophysicist to join our integrated, multi-disciplinary team supporting development and production activities in the Gulf of America. This role will develop innovative and robust geophysical evaluations for reservoir characterization and modeling, regional exploration studies, and multi-well producing field studies. You will be interfacing with partners and internal technical support groups as lead in geophysical studies, interpretations, and support for development and production activities in order to maximize hydrocarbon recovery across deepwater assets.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Develops fully integrated subsurface interpretations including mapping and cross sections by applying geotechnical workflows that integrate geology, geophysics, petrophysics, and engineering data, acquired from discovery through subsequent development and production; to support and improve reservoir characterization.
- Work in an integrated multi-disciplinary team to deliver robust studies to determine production drivers and define future field development opportunities and reserves potential.
- Works with the Development Team to help transition assets from development to production.
- Helps identify reservoir opportunities and design work programs for efficient and profitable recovery projects.
- Conducts risk and uncertainty analysis to support exploration, production and development decisions.
- Provides expertise input on geophysical aspects related to regional exploration studies, prospect generation and maturation, field appraisal, field development, and production.
- Generates fully integrated probabilistic and deterministic resource estimations in complex reservoir systems.
- Interfaces with drilling and operations team members to define potential shallow hazards and other drilling risks; contribute to well proposal preparations, well evaluations and collaborate with drilling and completion team to optimize well placement and completion design.
- Participates in both internal and external peer assists, peer reviews, technical assurance, and competitive technical intelligence activities; presents technical evaluations and ideas to support resource risking and resource estimation; works with peers to incorporate review feedback and recommendations into updated evaluations and ensure the final product is of a high technical quality and documented.
- Keep abreast of technology developments (internal and external) and recommend and implement fit-for-purpose new technology to improve process efficiency.
- Spreads learnings, expertise and best practices from this work, and fosters knowledge sharing
Education & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, or related geoscience disciplines required.
- 10+ years of industry related experience working in the oil and gas industry as a geophysicist.
- Deepwater and sub-salt experience is preferred, especially Gulf of America expertise.
- Requires Workstation experience and exposure to various modeling and interpretation packages used in 2D and 3D seismic data and subsurface sets.
- Proficient in geomodelling and seismic interpretation, analysis and modeling software, such as Petrel, Seisworks, DecisionSpace, Geoquest, Geoprobe, Fusion, Hampson&Russell and StratMagic etc.
- Knowledge of stochastic modeling techniques to quantify subsurface uncertainty.
- The ability to recognize and promote operational issues to the appropriate level of management and stakeholders through presentations and reports.
- Experience working in a large multi-disciplinary team.
- Initiative is required to recognize and deal with problems and opportunities with minimal supervision.

INEOS Energy Petroleum USA Inc. offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. This role will be exempt, and compensation includes both an annual salary and incentive compensation schemes. The benefits package includes healthcare, dental, and vision insurance for employees and eligible dependents.
INEOS also offers several other wellness, financial, and work/lifestyle-specific benefits. 401(k) retirement has both an automatic 6% company contribution and a match of up to an additional 6% of eligible compensation.
