Senior Finance Analyst - Accounting Inventory

Job Objective

The Senior Finance Analyst supports accounting and internal reporting and analysis activities. These include financial accounting, consolidations and financial reporting, sales, and inventory accounting. This position reports directly to the Financial Reporting & Accounting Manager.

Key Responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to:

  • Support the monthly accounting close process across all departments.
  • Review the monthly inventory cost accounting through calculation of entries for variable and fixed cost revaluation entries.
  • Support monthly preparation and analysis of all accounts in the general ledger.
  • Provide accounting support for various special projects (i.e. acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, etc.)
  • Provide financial accounting information to support questions and analysis of other users such as VP Finance and other business leaders.
  • Support inventory accounting including, but not limited to, FCMIS calculation, NRV calculation, and maintaining inventory detail file.
  • Support external audits.
  • Provide monthly financial information and analysis to the Finance team to facilitate understanding of the monthly operations and communication of results to management.
  • Prepare monthly fixed cost reporting using SAP download and pivot tables.
  • Prepare and analyze cash flow and working capital forecasts.
  • Analyze and provide recommendation related to capital projects, including lease verses buy analysis.
  • Serve as an advocate for process improvement and general technology efficiency within the Finance organization including automation and streamlining of other finance activities.
  • Perform other special projects or general financial analysis and modelling as needed.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Finance or Accounting
  • Public Accounting Certification and/or an MBA desirable
  • 5+ years relevant experience in financial analysis and modelling; manufacturing and inventory accounting experience a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of IFRS, including inventory accounting and other methods of valuing feedstock and product inventories
  • Experience with SAP or an ERP business system as a power user is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with advanced spreadsheet reporting and modelling.
  • Knowledge of the chemicals industry and/or plant processes
  • Solid Mathematical and Financial acumen
  • Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills
  • Strong analytical and presentation abilities
  • Thoroughly communicate recommendations that address concerns from multiple perspectives.
  • Time management - Must be able to prioritize, develop timelines, set milestones, and acquire resources for complex or long-term projects.
  • Self-starter, organized and capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Self-directed and establishes own priorities to meet needs of the multiple organizations and teams depending upon this role.
