Senior Completion Engineer UK

ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT & JOB PURPOSE

At INEOS Energy we produce and trade oil, gas, power, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and carbon credits. This is supported by our investments in low carbon technologies, which will help sustain our business through the energy transition. Direct examples of these areas are ‘Project Greensand’, our pioneering carbon storage project in the Danish North Sea and our investment in HydrogenOne Capital.

We are looking for a Senior Completion Engineer to support the Completions and Well Services management of existing UK well stock and future developments in and around the UK SNS.

Key objectives will include the development of designs, plans and execution of completion, well testing, stimulation, work-over and intervention well operations. The role will also encompass support for decommissioning and P&A activities as and when these arise.

The role will be based out of our office in Norwich and will report directly to the UK/DK Drilling and Completion Manager. Ad-hoc support may be required to the Drilling and Completion Team in Denmark.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Health, Safety and Environmental

  • Ensure operational risks are assessed and reduced to as low as reasonably practicable.
  • Ensure the well’s pressure, temperature and fluid properties are appraised and that all equipment is designed to operate within its intended environment
  • Ensure designs and operations comply with company standards and policies and relevant legislative requirements
  • Ensure all safety critical equipment meets design standards and is verified by an independent inspection body
  • Ensure operational risks are assessed and reduced to as low as reasonably practicable

Technical and Commercial

Design Phase:

  • Review & understand Subsurface Well Data Pack
  • Assisting in the following:
  • Development of Completion, Testing, Stimulation and Intervention design philosophies
  • Development of Completion design
  • Design and operability risk assessments
  • Peer Review and Peer Assist exercises
  • Preparation of time estimates
  • Development of associated permits and consents

Costing, Contracts and Procurement:

  • Participation in tender evaluation
  • Development of well service contracts
  • Participation in cost tracking and invoice verification

Detailed Programming:

  • Preparing detailed programmes and contingencies
  • Liaising with respective service company personnel
  • Supporting Peer Review and Peer Assist exercises

Operations:

  • Onshore support and supervision during Completion and Testing phases of the well

Production:

  • Well service support for producing assets
  • Oversee and manage well integrity during the production phase

Data capture and lessons learned:

  • Compiling Completions and Well Services End of Well Reports
  • Capturing lessons learned and incorporating them in subsequent designs and operations
  • Recording and closing out NPT occurrences
  • Compiling well costs

Management of Service providers:

  • Maintaining sight of new technologies and where applicable, introducing these into completion designs and operations
  • Management of KPI’s through regular performance reviews

 

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Education & Experience

  • 15+ years’ experience in design, planning and execution of Completion, Testing, Stimulation and Intervention operations both on and offshore
  • Knowledge of the principles of well design
  • Detailed knowledge of Completions, Perforating, Stimulation, Well Testing, Drill Stem Testing, Work-overs and Intervention techniques
  • Degree level engineering qualification preferred
  • IWCF – Supervisor Level
