INEOS Aromatics Geel is part of the INEOS Aromatics business with sites in Belgium, the US, China and Indonesia. We produce products the polyester industry uses to make many of the things we use in our daily lives, such as clothes, carpets, furniture, automotive parts, and food packaging. INEOS Aromatics is part of INEOS, one of the largest employers in the chemical industry in Belgium. Today we count over 3000 employees across 12 production- and R&D-sites: Doel, Brussels, Feluy, Geel (2), Jemeppe-sur-Sambre, Lillo (2), Neder-over-Heembeek, Zandvliet (2) and Zwijndrecht. INEOS Aromatics Geel employs 300 people.
Current Opportunity
Job Title: Senior Accountant (IFRS & VAT) - AROMATICS
Location: Geel
In this role, you will be responsible for IFRS-based financial accounting and reporting for a Belgian entity in an international industrial group. You will own Belgian VAT accounting and compliance and play a key role in the annual statutory conversion to Belgian GAAP, working closely with auditors and internal finance stakeholders.
Your Responsibilities
- Perform month-end and quarter-end closing activities accurately and on time in accordance with IFRS
- Manage general ledger accounting, including payroll, benefits, accruals, inventory, and cost accounting
- Own VAT accounting and compliance, including preparation, review, and timely submission of Belgian VAT returns and related reconciliations
- Maintain and control lease accounting under IFRS, and perform annual statutory conversion and reporting under Belgian GAAP (BE GAAP)
- Prepare statutory financial statements and support annual reporting and external audits
- Handle direct tax calculations, filings, and related accounting adjustments
- Support balance sheet reviews and assurance activities, ensuring data quality and compliance
- Prepare regulatory and compliance reports, including statistics for authorities
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across finance and operations in an international environment
Your Profile
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional accounting qualification is a plus
- Several years of experience in general and statutory accounting
- Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP and IFRS, including statutory close and reporting requirements
- Hands-on experience with Belgian VAT declarations and VAT accounting
- Solid experience working with SAP (FI module preferred)
- Fluency in English and Dutch (spoken and written)
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a structured and independent way
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented mindset
