The INEOS Joliet facility was originally constructed by Amoco starting in 1957. At our ~775-acre site in Channahon Township (about 40 miles southwest of Chicago) we produce three products - Purified Isophthalic Acid (PIA), Trimellitic Anhydride (TMA) and Maleic Anhydride (MAN). Our products are used in a wide range of applications, including PET packaging, unsaturated polyester resins (UPR), coating resins, plasticizers, copolymers, lubricants, and various other resin, ester, and specialty products.
INEOS Joliet has an exciting opportunity for aSenior Accountant, Compliance and Reportingto join our business.
Job Objective
As a Senior Accountant, Compliance & Reporting for the Joliet business, you will be a key member of the Joliet Finance team. This role is actively involved in the business financial close and reporting processes and leverages the SAP ERP system and Microsoft products to manipulate and understand data. This role has responsibility in the audit, treasury, tax. and credit functions. This role plays a significant role in managing the financial compliance calendar and works with all levels across the organization and with INEOS affiliates.
Key Responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to:
- Support INEOS Safety Principles and culture
- Financial Close Process / INEOS Enterprise Reporting including PO management, financial stewardship of Asia/European activity (transfer pricing, credit/cash management, statutory financial statements, governance), and balance sheet stewardship
- Tax Activities including all business processes and deadlines associated with direct tax US Income packets, VAT reporting, Asia/Europe taxes, property and use tax, and Superfund tax
- Accountable for the business processes and deadlines associated with managing U.S. and international audit activity
- Compliance Reporting including Domestic International Sales Credit (DISC) reporting, State business registrations, sales by State reporting, year-end schedules, and ad hoc reporting
- Credit/Treasury duties including ensuring credit process is followed and managed at the appropriate level to maximize value and mitigate risk, monitoring business environment and customer trends to manage credit limits, steward banking relationships, manage dividend process/cash position
- Insurance duties including supporting procurement/capital buyer with insurance language in contracts, maintaining Certificates of Insurance, and spearheading annual insurance framework for business
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert on INEOS Accounting policies and SAP ERP system.
- Drive process improvement within the finance team.
Qualifications:
§ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required;
§ 5 to 10 years accounting experience, including leadership experience in a corporate environment with demonstrated progressively increasing responsibilities;
§ Sound and balanced business acumen.
§ Solid understanding of GAAP & IAS.
§ Proficiency in O365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Access) and SQL tables
§ Proven working knowledge of SAP – has the skillset to extract and manipulate data to support financial and business objectives.
§ Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
§ Must have natural curiosity – business process acumen.
§ Demonstrated ability to get things done and ask for help if needed.
§ Strong ability to understand audience and build trust quickly.
§ Professional, strong communicator and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
