Sales Specialist - Open for Referral Program

Purpose /Role of the job:

In the context of Asian Aromatics business scope and strategy, the role is responsible for providing analytical works in PTA and downstream supply demand fundamentals, PTA sales and optimization performance tracking to support commercial decision making.

 

Responsibilities/ Accountabilities of the job:

Market Intelligence and Analysis (60%)

  • Lead short-term and long-term PTA industry balance analysis – including downstream demand forecast, competitors’ capacity and utilization assumption, industry economics, trade balance, etc.
  • Engage with market intelligence and market players to collect firsthand information, exchange the latest information with commercial team.
  • Support commercial team to run pricing and spread forecast and update PTA pricing and spread reports.
  • Consolidate cross countries market information to generate Asia weekly reports.
  • Conduct ad hoc market studies such as sub-regional balance, import and export trade flow projection, industry cost curve and breakeven analysis, new segment growth assessment, etc.
  • Key contact person with market intelligence agents, negotiate on service contracts.
  • Regular tracking new movements about circular economy in polyester value chain and share with wider team in a timely manner.

Business Stewardship (20%)

  • Work with finance team to prepare for customer VCM analysis and projection according to price and spread forecast.
  • Support commercial team to develop floor price mechanism according to cost and price projection in low margin environment.
  • Keep track on customer volume performance, analyze pricing group dynamics, and support sales managers to optimize sales portfolio.
  • Keep track on spot buy/sell performance, keep record on hedging activities, and prepare reports and summary for commercial improvement activities

Sales account management (20%)

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with PTA customers through regular communication, site visits, and understanding their specific feedstock needs, production schedules, and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with customers to forecast monthly purchasing volumes, ensuring timely confirmation and alignment with supply chain constraints.
  • Monitor daily/weekly market indices to propose competitive pricing; negotiate spot and term contracts.
  • Liaise with production plants, logistics teams, and terminals to secure product allocation, schedule loadings (pipeline, barge, vessel, rail), and resolve demurrage or quality disputes.
  • Ad hoc tasks assigned by PX and PTA Product Manager or PTA Sales Manager.

 

Required profile:

Level of education & Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, chemistry, or related discipline.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in chemicals industry with significant exposure to fundamental research, business planning, trading, sales, procurement, logistics and inventory management.
  • Cross functional and international business experience is preferred.

Experience in general:

  • Strong analytical capability
  • Strong skillsets of database management and data interpretation and presentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Mandarin
  • Strong interpersonal skills
