Organizational context and job purpose

The O&P USA business includes the Ethylene, Propylene, Butadiene, Polypropylene and Polyethylene product lines.  Manufacturing sites include Chocolate Bayou Works (Alvin, TX), Battleground Manufacturing Complex (LaPorte, TX), and Carson (Carson, CA), with the headquarters located in League City, TX. 

The Main Purpose of the Role: 

Single point of accountability between Polymers Sales, Business Management, Legal, Finance, and Supply Chain on Contracting, Consignment Agreements, Claims, and the pre-contract approval process.  This position has significant impact of the success of the Polymers sales efforts to ensure they are aligned with the key functional groups. Also responsible for developing key metrics that assist senior management in monthly pricing policy.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Single point of accountability for Polymer PE and PP contract development and claim processing
  • Manage the pre-contract Authority to Negotiate (ATN) approval workflow process through Dynamics 365 Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software as the first step in the contract development process
  • Substantive meetings with Legal in furtherance of contract review, serve as the gatekeeper for all Polymer contract review, manage the review and prioritization process for Legal and serve as the primary interface between Legal and the Commercial team for contract review
  • Interface with outside customers for contractual concerns and questions
  • Seeks out best solutions for sales requirements and legal restrictions as it pertains to contracting strategy
  • Process and track customer questionaries and forms for outside customers
  • Monitor contract compliance of each executed contract to ensure volumes are appropriate to the terms of the contract as well as other conditions and communicate the information to the Sales Director and Commercial Business Managers to proactively avoid problems
  • Serve as the single point of accountability for Polymer contract administration
  • Prepare ATN approval and Claims Approval summary slides for monthly board meetings
  • Data analysis and reporting relating to transactions
  • Administer ongoing enhancements to the Dynamics365 Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software system
  • Develop and send monthly customized customer requested reports that include volumes by ship to location as needed. Responsible for updating senior management on key metrics that result in pricing policy decisions.  This has a direct relationship to the profitability of our business along with setting monthly pricing decisions.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Education/Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a contract administrator or legal assistant with a basic understanding of commercial agreements and contract management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration
  • Formal Paralegal degree will also be considered

  • Demonstrated strong MS Office applications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use Sharepoint
  • SAP experience desired but not required

  • Must have knowledge of basic legal requirements and advise commercial department staff on compliance issues regarding contracting.
