The Position: The Safety Representative actively provides on-site leadership and direction around ensuring the safety of INEOS Styrolution employees and contractors.
What you will do:
This position – and all positions - within INEOS Styrolution requires that the incumbent commit to learning, following, and practicing INEOS’ 20 Principles of Process and Behavioral Safety and Life Saving Rules. These are posted within each INEOS Styrolution facility. Additionally, this position will:
- Provide expertise, coaching, consultation, and hands-on support to the site workforce on safety and health issues including OSHA, process safety, behavioral safety, and INEOS standards. Follow-up to resolve concerns raised and communicate the outcome to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with SHE staff and customer organizations in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Bayport plant-specific SHE procedures and policies to deliver programs that fulfill requirements and enhance performance.
- Train new hires, contractors, and incumbents on safety procedures and policies, including INEOS Life Saving Rules, 20 Principles, company guidance notes, and OSHA regulations.
- Provide oversight to contractor safety management. Establish Safety Execution Plans for contractors. Communicate and engage appropriate stakeholders in development and execution of the plans.
- Compile and submit complete and accurate information and data necessary to measure performance towards plant SHE goals and regulatory compliance, as assigned. Communicate safety data and trends and recommend interventions to improve results.
- Lead SHE compliance programs or components of such programs, as assigned.
- Lead and/or participate in incident investigations, field reviews, and SHE assurance audits.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable federal and state-specific SHE regulations, including pending changes, and communicate regulations and requirements to the Bayport personnel and management.
- Provide back-up coverage for incident management, emergency response support, and site security.
What you will bring:
Level of Education
- High School diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Occupational Health & Safety or related technical field preferred
- Certifications as Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
- Knowledge of safety compliance and regulatory requirements in plant environment
Experience
- 5+ years experience working in an OSHA-regulated manufacturing plant required; chemical or petrochemical plant environment is preferred.
- Prior experience working in safety is preferred
- Experience collaborating across functions and organizational levels to achieve results
- Experience training/teaching employees in the field and in the classroom preferred
- Experience developing and/or revising safety policies and procedures preferred
Other Skills & Behaviors
- Strong written and oral communication skills (in English)
- Ability to correctly interpret SHE laws and regulations and guide management on the proper application of them.
- Ability to influence and motivate a diverse work force dealing with a wide variety of safety and training issues.
- Ability to recognize and mitigate hazards in the workplace.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft software and ability to develop competency in the use of ancillary software applications used by the Bayport site and Americas Region.

The Location: This opportunity is located in Pasadena, Texas - Styrene United States (US), approximately 20 miles east of downtown Houston.
