Your Role: As a Regulatory Affairs Engineer you will work in an OEM new product development environment that develops On Road and Off-Road Vehicles from concept to launch. One of the key deliverables of this position is to keep the team updated with the latest and upcoming changes in the regulations for Europe, USA, RoW, covering Active Safety, Passive Safety, Environmental, and general homologation topics.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Coordinating, analysing and if appropriate advising external partners on changes or notices regarding government regulatory changes
- Manage a regulatory database for the regulatory affairs
- Provide guidance and information on worldwide regulations and amendments to the business including Engineering, Quality and Commercial
- Work with vehicle program teams to provide regulatory guidance and where necessary address issues
- Active participation in regulation forums defending the business interests, keeping the internal teams informed of upcoming changes and their impacts.
- Participation in Automotive Committees and Congresses regarding Regulatory Affairs
- Act as liaison between company, external agencies and government agencies on environmental regulatory affairs.
- Support the development and maintenance of internal policies and processes related to the application, implementation, enforcement and audit of all policies, standards and regulations.
- Advise the Engineering team on current and future legislative matters relating to environmental affairs
- Report to Homologation Manager for non-conforming regulatory issues
- Work as an active member of the Engineering team, ensure effective communication between colleagues and positive contribute to meetings and briefings
For the Regulatory Affairs Engineer we are looking for:
- Successfully completed studies in Engineering or similar
- 5 years experience in automotive Regulatory affairs with OEM or first tier 1 supplier
- Extensive experience with Regulations and testing procedures
- Demonstrated experience working with various government bodies is required
- Knowledge of vehicle emissions control systems, engine calibrations, and powertrains
- Able to develop and maintain the respect and trust of government agency employees
- Research regulatory requirements and effectively negotiate as needed
- Must be able to build effective working relationships with internal clients and external partners and suppliers
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Solid ability to move from analytical to strategy (bigger picture)
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10% of the time)
