The Position:

As a Regional Category Buyer – Maritime Transport at INEOS Styrolution, you will be responsible for securing cost-effective, reliable, and innovative logistics solutions for our European operations. Your focus will be on key categories like containerized sea freight, airfreight, and barging, ensuring smooth and efficient supply chain performance.

This is more than just a procurement role – it’s an opportunity to drive cost savings, improve operational efficiency, and be a project lead. You will develop and execute comprehensive procurement strategies, manage high-impact tenders, and collaborate with global stakeholders to enhance value across the organization. In this role, you’ll be encouraged to be proactive, show initiative and bring your own ideas.

What you will do: 

  • Procurement strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies for sea-, airfreight and barging categories to optimize our supply chain.
  • Tender Management: 
    • Lead and coordinate global annual maritime tenders.
    • Leveraging your negotiation skills to secure the most favorable terms and conditions and the subsequent contract creations. Completed by further smaller but regular tenders and price negotiations in the categories airfreight, seafreight and barging.
  • Stakeholder management: 
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with logistics service providers, fostering collaboration and innovation to create value for the organization.
    • Collaborate with internal  and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and support, driving value across the organization.
  • Barging capacity: You will procure the required barging capacity to ensure a reliable supply of liquid raw materials to our Western European production sites.
  • Logistics Optimization: Continuously seeking out opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency, without compromising quality or service.

What you will bring: 

  • Education and Knowledge: Degree in economics, business administration, supply chain management, or a commercial apprenticeship in the field of shipping or general logistics
  • General Experience: 3-5 years of experience in procurement, preferably in logistics categories.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Existing project experience in an international business environment.
    • Existing tender management experience, including the creation, implementation and monitoring of related procurement strategy.
    • Knowledge of the barging, sea- and airfreight market.
    • Proficiency in SAP applications and MS Office. Power BI is a plus.
    • Fluent in English and German, further language skills would be an advantage.
  • Competencies and Behavioral Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, project management experience, and a team-oriented approach.
    • Willingness to travel within an international business environment.

The Location:

The position can be performed at the company locations Frankfurt (head office), Antwerp or Cologne.
