Current Opportunity
The Position:
The Project Engineer implements capital projects to improve safety, health, environmental performance, product quality, asset reliability, production capacity, and optimize overall plant performance. The project engineer works closely with ASA Operations teams to meet project objectives through a capital project stage gate development and execution process. The project engineer role is an active member of the Maintenance & Reliability team and an integral member of the larger ASA Operations Team. The incumbent may be assigned to help address operational issues in addition to providing leadership for the ASA unit capital projects.
In addition, the Bayport site EBSM unit has a capital project group and so collaboration with the EBSM unit for project processes and procedures, as well as coordination of capital projects spanning the two units, is expected. The ASA plant is currently in an extended startup phase with several debottlenecking efforts underway. Additionally, this position can have ad hoc responsibilities including providing technical support on operational issues and coordination responsibilities during outages and turnarounds.
What you will do:
• This position – and all positions - within the INEOS Styrolution organization requires the incumbent commit to learning, following and practicing INEOS 20 Principles of Process and Behavioral Safety as applicable to the position. Each employee must also commit to following INEOS’ Life-Saving rules daily. These principles and rules are posted at each INEOS Styrolution facility.
• The Project Engineer ensures projects maintain full compliance to Safety, Health and Environmental regulations as well as INEOS Group Guidance Notes (IGGNs) and Styrolution Group Guidance Notes (SGGNs).
• The Project Engineer provides leadership and accountability on assigned capital and expense projects and must be a good steward of company capital. The position is responsible for all aspects of cost control and planning on each project ensuring each project is implemented within the approved budget and established time schedule.
• This position is responsible for the capital project planning, development, budgeting, and execution for the Bayport Polymer (ASA) plant. This includes coordinating the development of detailed engineering plans, specifications, and construction packages to meet engineering guidelines and best practices while working closely with process engineering, construction, reliability, and operations teams to ensure successful project design, implementation, and start-up.
• The position is responsible for supporting the operations teams in defining project objectives and justifications, ensuring risks are described, and validating project merits in the company’s best interest.
• The Project Engineer will be required to follow the Styrolution capital project stage gate processes, front-end loading, and constructability. The project engineer must successfully and efficiently coordinate the organization’s internal resources to complete the project. A team approach towards project objective completion is expected with emphasis on results.
What you will bring:
• BS Engineering Degree required, Mechanical or Chemical preferred
• Minimum of five (5) years of capital project engineering / management is required.
• Experience in a petrochemical plant environment is preferred.
• Experience with plastics processes including reaction, extrusion, pelletizing and pneumatic conveying is preferred.
• Industry knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) standards and environmental awareness is preferred.
Technical Skills:
• Possess an understanding of large equipment (reactors, rotating equipment, heaters, exchangers, tanks, etc.) and piping design principles, including civil and structural requirements
• Possess an understanding of instrumentation and controls and electrical distribution criteria and requirements
• Experience with project budgeting and managing scope changes during project execution
• Good aptitude for critical path reasoning used when setting target deadlines for deliverables and managing project schedule
• Possess working knowledge of applicable technical codes and standards (ASME, API, NFPA, NEC, etc.)
• Capable of implementing and integrating multiple projects during outages and turnaround activities
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and on multiple technical projects simultaneously
