Production Engineer

The Production Engineer of INEOS KOH is responsible for coordination of daily activities of the operations group to ensure that production can meet the sales and customer service demand.  This position has no direct reports but will provide daily direction to the operations team to meet business objectives.

The important activities of the roles include:

Accountability 1: Drive SHE Excellence

Most important activities: 

  • Adherence to all SHE policies and procedures and INEOS KOH’s 20 principles of process and behavioral safety and life-saving rules.
  • Complete all computer-based safety training.
  • Attend scheduled KOH Academies.
  • Support site SHE plan activities as needed.

Accountability 2:  Production Activities

Most important activities: 

  • Coordinate daily Production communication between Operations Manager and Production Operators.
  • Create, review, and improve ISO/BD procedures (SOPs) as required.
  • PHA, PSSR, JSA, root cause investigation, etc. leader/participation as needed.
  • Assume delegated duties when the Operations Manager is out of the office.
  • Work with Operations Manager to plan operating rates to meeting S&OP plan.
  • Support Administrative Assistant with any production report issues related to calculation and/or data entry errors.  Assist with plant operational issues prior to any engineering support, system troubleshooting and training.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain, Customer Service, Procurement when changes to delivery schedules, shortages, or loading schedules change.
  • Monitor operations to ensure effectiveness and completeness within department required activities.
  • Adjust operator daily tasks and readings to improve efficiency and plant reliability.
  • Lead and support Incident and Near Miss investigation in support of continual improvement in Process Safety performance. 
  • Resolve action items as assigned in a timely manner.
  • Act as a Duty Team Manager during off hours on a rotating basis.
  • Assist Operations Manager with the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Manage water treatment activities to ensure requisitions are paid, inventories are correct, and process issues are being addressed.
  • Support Production Maintenance Coordinator with lock out tag out creation
  • Report production status and resolve day‑to‑day workflow issues

Accountability 3: Reliability Activities

Most important activities:

  • Monitor and report on Reliability and OEE.
  • Coordinate daily communication with Production Maintenance Coordinator to meet production and reliability requirements.
  • Create and implement continuous improvement projects via Management of Change to align with the Production Maintenance Coordinator priorities.
  • Manage and drive removal of deficiencies within operations.
  • Ensure completion of relevant Management of Change (RFC) actions within the operations group.
  • And other duties as assigned.

Level of education & experience in general

  • 4 year Engineering degree (Chemical or similar field of study preferred)
  • 2-5 years experience in the chemical manufacturing or similar industry.
  • Experience in chloralkali industry preferred

Technical skills

  • General understanding of AutoCAD for the generation and update of technical drawings (including P&IDs, BFDs, and PFDs)
  • General understanding of ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • General understanding of Microsoft office suite including advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience at a PSM regulated site including MOC, PHA, and other regulated activities
  • Experience with ISO9001 requirements considered a plus
