We’re looking for a Procurement Specialist to join the INEOS Acetyls team based in HullWe need highly motivated individuals who want to be part of our growing business.

INEOS Acetyls is a global chemicals business producing acetic acid and a range of derivatives across Europe, Asia and America. We’re part of INEOS - one of the largest petrochemical companies in the world, employing around 26,000 people across 194 sites in 29 countries.

You will be based at the Hull site, which is the largest producer of acetic acid, acetic anhydride and ethyl acetate in Europe. The products we produce are essential building blocks used in almost every industry, including renewable power, automotive, pharmaceuticals, coatings and textiles.

Hull is also home to the business's global Technology Development and Support Team and is based on the 370-acre Saltend Chemicals Park - a cluster of world-class chemicals and renewable energy businesses at the heart of the UK's energy estuary.

The opportunity

The key requirement of this role is to ensure that INEOS Acetyls UK Ltd assets have the correct goods and services available to be able to meet the site production plans (including TAR and maintenance) and Capex portfolio supplied at the optimal value. Accountability for the strategic development, negotiation, delivery and ongoing management of key third party goods and services.

Key accountabilities

  • Lead negotiator for services and technical procurement agreements
  • Direct contracts responsibility to approx. £5M
  • Contract Relationship manager for Key suppliers to the Hull Site
  • Network with the global INEOS procurement organization to maximise group leverage possibilities.
  • Identify and recommend new suppliers to the business that can offer a commercial or technical advantage to INEOS to mitigate project or asset schedule risk.
  • Ensure that security of supply for goods and services are maintained safely, to the correct technical specification and on schedule to meet operational requirements.
  • Provide expert advice on procurement related risks, including in depth market knowledge both commercial and technical to all INEOS Acetyls UK procurement customers

About you

Technical skills:

  • MCIPS qualified preferred or equivalent chartered membership or QS qualifications. Previous procurement or quantified surveyor with significant experience in a large complex manufacturing environment, dealing with contract negotiation and management desirable.
  • Strong IT skills including excel, word, SAP & data base analysis would be advantageous.
  • Identification of total cost ownership.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NAECI (“the blue book”)
  • Deep understanding of the cost drivers on contracts in order to demonstrate transparency and overall value.
  • Expert, advanced negotiation skills and techniques.
  • Sound understanding of company policies, site safety standards and legislation is an advantage.
  • Experience in supporting capital project activities.
  • Awareness of logistical / haulage agreements

  • Experience in streamlining and optimizing existing processes (Continuous improvement)
  • Ability to test and challenge outside of the norm.
