INEOS has an exciting opportunity for a Category Manager to join our INEOS Composites business at our Barcelona office (Spain) – on site
The job holder will be a key member of the EMEA Composites procurement team, reporting to EMEA Procurement Leader (member of EMEA management Team).
With 4 Plants, approx. 300FTEs, >200 customers and 100 suppliers we are one of the leading producers of UPR resins & Gel Coats and #1 supplier of VER in EMEA.
The role is critical to business success with raw material spend accounting for >75% of our production costs in a highly competitive market with multiple end use segments and constantly evolving dynamics.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Strategy:
- Work with cross functional teams to agree, develop and deliver the optimum sourcing strategy for all raw materials assigned to the UPR portfolio.
- Research and identify suppliers to determine, along with cross functional teams, the best value in terms of quality, capability, cost & delivery for the business.
- Analyse historic strategy and spend with the aim of finding improvements in strategy and cost.
Procurement Activities:
- Challenge and negotiate with suppliers to get the most favourable commercial terms.
- Ensure robust commercial contracts are agreed and adhered to.
- Develop and monitor KPIs to monitor and measure supplier reviews in order to drive improved supplier performance.
- Analyse commodity data, macroeconomic forecasts and policy information to produce short, medium and long-term raw material price and availability forecasts for the raw materials assigned to the UPR portfolio.
- Assist with resolving disputes and providing a defence against supplier claims.
- Ensure supplier SHE standards meet the required expectations of the business, including the implementation of specific INEOS requirements.
Process:
- Ensuring that appropriate purchase orders are placed and maintained in SAP on a timely basis for UPR category.
- Maintain databases containing procurement project statuses, contracts, price development and ensuring up to date and accessible for all materials assigned to UPR category.
- Develop a calendar for all tenders, contract renewals etc. and ensure adhered to.
- Ensure alignment with the delegation of authority process at all times.
Organisation:
- Provide the EMEA Procurement Leader with clear and thoughtful analysis/data as and when required.
- Attend regular meetings (with site engineers and management team) to understand project requirements and to develop the procurement strategy for future projects for UPR category.
- Provide EMEA procurement leader with forward opportunities for improvement in terms of capital planning or identify procurement risks.
Compliance:
- Meet all legal, ethical and regulatory compliance practices and ensure suppliers adhere to the same.
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
Level of education & Experience in general
- Preferably Economics, Chemistry or Engineering Degree
- Indispensable high level of spoken and written English; Spanish desired.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as Category Manager - Raw materials sourcing or at least exposure to Chemical Industry environment.
- Experience working in multicultural / multinational environments
Technical skills
- Ability to draft and interpret contracts, as well as ongoing contract/supplier management.
- Ability to draft and execute tenders.
- Use of knowledge of business economics and global drivers and trends and anticipating how that applies to raw materials sourcing for the UPR category.
- Strong negotiation and rigorous analytical skills.
- Advanced knowledge and use of SAP, Excel, PowerPoint and data analysis tools.
- Demonstrated quantitative and analytical skills which can be applied to problem solving, critical thinking, change management and project management work.
- Experienced in purchasing / procurement preferably in an international chemical or technical environment
- Knowledge of Supply Chain Management and Direct procurement practices, business operation is required.
