ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY

As a Process Technician on the KG Ethylene Plant, you will play a vital role in keeping one of the largest and most complex petrochemical plants in the UK operating safely and efficiently. You will start by gaining hands on experience in key processing areas and then progress to training to become a Panel Technician. In this role you will use a distributed control system to monitor the plant’s processes and make informed interventions when required while adhering to safety and industry regulations. You will also lead the outside technicians, report issues to different teams and ensure reliable production operations.

ABOUT YOU

  • This challenging position is ideal for individuals who can demonstrate experience of plant software / DCS (not necessarily in the petrochemical industry).
  • You could also be a recent graduate or experienced engineer in a relevant technical discipline (Chemical, Electrical/Instrumentation, DCS).
  • You could have an HNC in a relevant discipline alongside a demonstrable track record of data analysis, problem solving, confident decision making and drive  whether from within or outside of the petrochemical industry.

Knowledge and skills

  • The ability to solve problems and make informed decisions using information spread between different sources.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex information and react to dynamic situations; making key decisions in short timescales where required.
  • Interpreting trends and making process changes using the information learned from them.
  • Prioritising work activities to ensure that they are carried out in time and in a way that does not disturb production.
  • Follow complex operating instructions and be able to interpret and explain them.
  • Communication with all levels of the organisation and contract staff.
  • Follow safety and legislative processes.
  • Highlight optimisation and reliability improvements on KG.
  • Key role in maintenance turnarounds, commissioning of new projects, plant shutdowns and restarts for planned and unplanned events.
  • Monitoring of plant operations, diagnosing adverse trends and implementing corrective actions to achieve short, medium and long term operating performance targets.
  • Ability to lead outside operating team by directing tasks during normal operations, start up, shutdown and upset situations.
  • Consideration will also be given to strongly motivated candidates with a proven track record of data analysis, problem solving, confident decision making and drive  whether from within or outside of the petrochemical industry.

Successful applicants will then be invited to interview which will consist of a group exercise, behavioural and technical questions.
