The Forties Pipeline System (FPS) is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated energy transportation and processing business serving the central area of the North Sea.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Risk Manager, the successful candidate will provide independent leadership and structured guidance on Process & Technical Safety and Risk Management matters to operating and non-operating functions.

The candidate will provide functional leadership and competent advice to Asset teams in developing and delivering process safety improvement plans including validating that process safety information is accurate.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Provide independent advice on Process Safety and Risk Management for the FPS asset operations, projects activities and non-operating functions to reduce risk and drive value for FPS.
  • Sets, and provides oversight, of FPS wide process safety improvement activities in conjunction with Asset, including process safety improvement plans and process safety information gap closure programmes.
  • Expert knowledge of broad range of risk management techniques, ability to chair and support key risk review processes and improvement projects in a structured manner to deliver desired outcomes.
  • Own and provide competent advice on Management System Sub-Elements 2.1 (Risk Assurance) & 2.2 (MOC), ensuring content is compliant with INEOS Group and industry best practice.
  • Drives integration of risk process within other business tools.
  • Own key risk management processes and software e.g. eMOC, barrier tool and risk process to drive risk reduction and promote opportunities.
  • Provide deep technical expertise on key process safety matters, supporting planned / unplanned regulatory engagements as the INEOS FPS SPA for process safety.
  • Lead audit and assurance activities related to Process Safety & Risk Management, analysing MAH related assurance KPIs to inform business improvement initiatives. This includes support to Group requirements such as 20 Principles auditing and IGGN gap closure.
  • Lead FPS Process Safety Network comprising of the asset Technical Managers and Process Safety Engineers to ensure consistency and sharing of best practice / learnings across FPS.
  • Promote and maintain Process Safety knowledge across FPS through representation at external forums / networks, sharing periodic Process Safety Moments, training and other relevant materials.

Special Features

  • Management System sub-element owner ensuring that relevant legislative and business requirements are adequately defined in the FPS Management System and that it remains current and accurate (Sub-Elements 2.1 and 2.2);
  • Member of INEOS FPS Incident Management Team (IMT);
  • Track record of working productively with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Occasional travel between Falkirk, Aberdeen and offshore is required.

Qualifications, knowledge and Skills

  • Degree qualified, Chartered Chemical Engineer.
  • 10+ years in Process Plant Operations and Projects, including relevant experience of risk management
  • Detailed understanding and knowledge of Process Safety;
  • Extensive knowledge of the application of Process Hazard Analysis, Risk and Management of Change;
  • Detailed understanding of onshore and offshore major accident hazard legislation
  • Ability to influence and communicate with people at all levels in the organisation;
  • Ability to manage external relationships with regulators and other key stakeholders effectively
  • Experienced in risk assessment techniques and methodology.
