The Position:

The Process Engineer plays a key role in optimizing and supporting the operation of INEOS Styrolution‘s assets with a primary focus at the Texas City Styrene facility.  This includes tracking unit performance, setting operating targets and guidelines for the unit operators, troubleshooting problems, developing and executing improvement projects and administering the unit quality program. 

What you will do:

  • Serve as an asset engineer and champion of INEOS’ 20 Principles of Process & Behavioral Safety and Life-Saving Rules, ensuring safe and compliant operations.
  • Develop and maintain safe operating envelopes, including parameters, deviation consequences, corrective actions, and investigation of exceedances.
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations, PHAs, LOPAs, MOC reviews, and PSSR evaluations to prevent reoccurrence and manage risk.
  • Support styrene product lines through technical service and small capital projects, including scoping, prioritization, and execution.
  • Create preliminary and detailed process designs, perform economic evaluations, provide start-up support, and complete post-audit documentation.
  • Partner daily with Operations and Maintenance to troubleshoot, optimize performance, prepare for shutdowns, turnarounds, and start-ups.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Business, Logistics, and Commercial teams to optimize production schedules, forecasts, and quality management.
  • Influence asset integrity and regulatory compliance, providing technical input to sustaining projects and supporting environmental and Title V requirements.

What you will bring:

  • Minimum of a B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Basic engineering knowledge and skills.
  • Recent project demonstrating innovation ability.
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental quality issues.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, & written communication skills.
  • Needs to be familiar with or show an aptitude to become familiar with chemical processes.  
  • Needs to be solution and results oriented.

Technical Skills:

  • Detailed knowledge of process equipment a plus.
  • Demonstrated intermediate to advanced proficiency with computer systems and business applications.

Competencies, Behavioral Skills:

  • Leadership Skills a Plus

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At INEOS Styrolution, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are carefully made based on the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
