about the role
Reporting to the Development Team Leader, the post holder will work as part of the INEOS FPS South Technical Team to provide process engineering expertise to activities that support the medium and long term strategy of the business. FPS South assets include the Kinneil Terminal; PLPG/ RLPG gas storage and loading; Dalmeny and Hound Point crude oil storage and loading.
What does the day to day look like?
- Carry out conceptual studies to identify asset availability/ reliability / sustainability improvement opportunities.
- Lead plant development studies through appraise and select project stages working closely with engineering contractor partners.
- Provide process engineering discipline support as part of capex project delivery teams.
- Lead plant improvent modifications as job responsible engineer, collaborating with other disciplines / stakeholders and working within the FPS management of change process.
- Deliver formal process engineering input and approval as a reviewer of plant improvement modifications to ensure delivery of fit for purpose and fully documented asset improvements (including TAR modifications scope).
- Complete the process engineering field checks of plant modifications to ensure equipment is installed per the design.
- Carry out process modelling, trouble shooting and asset optimisation.
- Complete process engineering technical studies and lead consultants/ contractors in completion of technical studies.
- Develop and maintain asset technical process / process safety documentation to ensure continued operation within asset design and regulatory requirements.
- Provide process engineering input to asset hazard identification studies (HAZOP, LOPA, QRA) and carry out technical work to support close out inc. ALARP assessment.
- Develop strong working relationships with asset stakeholders including; Operations; Engineering; SHEQ; Commercial / Production Planning teams; to facilitate an integrated approach to resolving technical issues.
- Coach/mentor interns and graduates to support professional development of individuals and increase asset/site/company competency levels.
what do I need?
- Chartered Chemical Engineer or working towards chartered status with experience of oil and gas or chemical industry operations. This experience ideally should be wide ranging and cover some experience of projects, design and operational environments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to create relationships with stakeholders and 3rd party specialists.
- Strong, demonstrable SHE and process safety leadership within the office and plant environment.
- Good knowledge of process safety requirements for a hydrocarbon plant.
- Knowledge of risk assessment and management processes – knowledge of specific tools required and ability to interpret results.
- Awareness of human factors influence on process safety.
- Familiar with of management of change processes.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office and industry standard process engineering software.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, instrument, electrical and control engineering.
