The Position:


The Process Engineer plays a key role in optimizing and supporting the operation of INEOS Styrolution‘s Styrenics assets with a primary focus at the Bayport Styrene facility.  This includes tracking unit performance, setting operating targets and guidelines for the unit operators, troubleshooting problems, managing the asset integrity for the unit, developing and executing improvement projects and administering the unit quality program.  

Additional important internal and external factors related to the job:

Daily interaction with Operations and Maintenance to help maintain, support, troubleshoot, and maximize unit performance.  Has frequent interaction with logistics and commercial regarding production forecasts and quality management.  As needed interaction with vendors, consultants, and raw material suppliers to identify improvements, resolve operational issues, and provide technical support for projects


What You Will Do: 


This position – and all positions - within the INEOS Styrolution organization requires that the incumbent commit to learning, following and practicing INEOS 20 Principles of Process and Behavioural Safety as applicable to the position.   • Intervene to stop unsafe work
  • Observe and follow all rules and procedures
  • Responsible for development and maintaining the operating envelopes, this includes identifying appropriate parameters, consequence of deviations, and corrective actions; setting the safe operating envelop limits; and investigating any exceedances.
  • Lead/participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective recommendations to prevent reoccurrence
  • Support/lead Process Hazard Analysis and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA)
  • Write and support the Management of Change process through PHA and PSSR Evaluations
  • Monitors unit performance variables, process equipment, and provides input to meet reliability targets.  
  • Responsible for process asset integrity management
  • Optimizes variable costs by leveraging technical knowledge and a proactive approach to energy management.  Analyzes the variance between the commercial plan and actual performance and assists the team in closing the variance.  
  • Day-to-day interface with operations and maintenance to help maintain, support, troubleshoot, and maximize unit performance.  
  • Supporting the styrene product lines through small project and technical service emphasis.
  • Managing project activities including scoping and prioritization.
  • Influencing the integrity management for the unit.  This includes collaborating with the Preventive Maintenance Coordinator to prioritize the work order schedule, as well as monitoring, mitigating and advising on integrity risks under oversight of the Operations Manager.
  • Creating preliminary and detailed process designs.
  • Economic evaluation, start-up support, post audit evaluations and completion of proper documentation.
  • Preparation and support for unit shutdowns, turnarounds, and start-ups.
  • Supports outage & turnaround planning and execution, up to and including vessel entry.
  • Provides technical input into regulatory and sustaining projects as requested and evaluates, recommends and helps implement best practice technology to process operations.  
  • Participates in verification activities for safety and environmental compliance (Title V).  


What You Will Bring: 

  • Minimum of a B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant expeirence as a process engineer in the chemical industry. 
  • Basic engineering knowledge and skills.
  • Recent project demonstrating innovation ability.
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental quality issues.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, & written communication skills.
     

Experience in general: 

•  Needs to be familiar with or show an aptitude to become familiar with chemical processes.  
•  Needs to be results orientedKnowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental quality issues.

Technical skills:

•    Computer Skills Necessary

•    Detailed knowledge of process equipment a plus
