The Position:
The Process Engineer plays a key role in optimizing and supporting the operation of INEOS Styrolution‘s Styrenics assets with a primary focus at the Bayport Styrene facility. This includes tracking unit performance, setting operating targets and guidelines for the unit operators, troubleshooting problems, managing the asset integrity for the unit, developing and executing improvement projects and administering the unit quality program.
Additional important internal and external factors related to the job:
Daily interaction with Operations and Maintenance to help maintain, support, troubleshoot, and maximize unit performance. Has frequent interaction with logistics and commercial regarding production forecasts and quality management. As needed interaction with vendors, consultants, and raw material suppliers to identify improvements, resolve operational issues, and provide technical support for projects
What You Will Do:
This position – and all positions - within the INEOS Styrolution organization requires that the incumbent commit to learning, following and practicing INEOS 20 Principles of Process and Behavioural Safety as applicable to the position. These are posted within each INEOS Styrolution facility. Each employee must also commit to following INEOS’ Life-Saving rules on a daily basis. These rules are posted within each INEOS Styrolution facility.
- Safety and Compliance: Intervenes to stop unsafe work, ensures adherence to safety rules and procedures, supports Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and participates in safety and environmental compliance verification, including Title V evaluations.
- Operational Excellence: Develops and maintains operating envelopes, monitors unit performance variables, troubleshoots process equipment, and works to optimize variable costs through energy management and reliability improvements.
- Incident and Risk Management: Leads or participates in incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions, supports the Management of Change process, and advises on integrity risks in collaboration with maintenance teams.
- Technical Support and Optimization: Provides day-to-day interface with operations and maintenance to maximize unit performance, supports styrene product lines through technical service and small projects, and creates detailed process designs.
- Shutdowns and Turnarounds: Prepares and supports unit shutdowns, turnarounds, and start-ups, including vessel entry, planning, execution, and post-audit evaluations.
- Project and Technology Integration: Manages project activities such as scoping and prioritization, provides technical input on regulatory and sustaining projects, and evaluates and implements best practice technologies for process operations.
What You Will Bring:
- Minimum of a B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field.
- At least 3-5 years of relevant expeirence as a process engineer in the chemical industry.
- Basic engineering knowledge and skills.
- Recent project demonstrating innovation ability.
- Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental quality issues.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, & written communication skills.
Experience in general:
• Needs to be familiar with or show an aptitude to become familiar with chemical processes.
• Needs to be results orientedKnowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental quality issues.
Technical skills:
• Computer Skills Necessary
• Detailed knowledge of process equipment a plus
