INEOS has an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join our INEOS Composites business at our Benicarlo plant (Spain). This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Manufacturing function. This position will report to Plant Manager.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead and drive some of the Improvement Projects at the plant: Monitor and implement actions to improve the efficiency of the production process and the plant operations (cycle times, energy consumption, etc…)
  • Collaborate in the continuous improvement of production processes as well as the Integrated Management System itself.
  • Create and program new recipes to be produced through the DCS. Lead any changes or adjustment to be performed on existing recipes.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Department and participate in the execution and implementation of Capital Projects as needed (definition of process requirements and conditions, operators training, writing operating procedures, etc.…).
  • Could lead and implement capital projects directly linked with a process change or improvement, such as the migration of the Control System or the installation of a new device to improve the process.
  • When necessary, provide technical support to plant personnel outside of working hours.
  • Review and update own work instructions and operating procedures. Provide operators training on new equipment or a new or changed process. 
  • Collaborate on the Management of Change program.
  • Understand and act as a promotor of 20 safety principles, IGGNs and Company safety standards to achieve Safe and Compliant Operations.
  • As Basis of Safety Engineer:
    • Develop and document Risk Summary Tables to record key layers of protection against hazardous plant scenarios.
    • Develop and document safe operating ranges (Operating Envelopes)
    • Maintain an understanding of the standards of implementation of the measures in the Hazard Summary Tables in the plant; where issues are identified to be raised with the responsible manager(s) (usually the Asset Manager) and ensure effective action is taken.
    • Develop and implement training materials for those responsible for operating, maintaining, and developing the plant so that they have an appropriate level of understanding of the key layers of protection against hazardous scenarios. This activity includes validation, refresher training and understanding audit and is applicable to new beginners and experienced staff.
    • Deal with immediate BOS (Basis of Safety) issues (in particular Management of Change approvals, Risk Assessments, etc.) for the relevant asset areas.


In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

Level of education & Experience in general

  • BS or MS in Chemical Engineering
  • +5 years experience in Process Engineering role preferably in the Chemical Manufacturing environment
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Proven ability to design and specify new process equipment and system is a plus
  • Some experience on leadership

  • Action/Results oriented.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Fluency in English
