Organizational context and job purpose
INEOS Nitriles is a global chemicals business with sales volume of 1200 kte and revenue in excess of $3 billion. The Nitriles business has 2 manufacturing operations in the US and 1 in Europe along with offices and headquarters in Rolle, Switzerland and Aurora, Illinois near Chicago. The Nitriles Business primary products include acrylonitrile, hydrogen cyanide, and acetonitrile. Additionally, Nitriles also has a manufacturing operation that produces catalyst for internal use at the Lima Site, globally within Ineos, and for other Acrylonitrile producers.

This role is a senior technical position in INEOS Nitriles Technology and is considered to be the Process Chemistry Asset Manager. The incumbent reports to the Technology Director and has global responsibility for providing expert chemistry consultation and support to manufacturing and for developing new or improved process chemistry in support of Nitriles manufacturing sites and licensees.
The individual in this position must be a results-oriented self-starter with the ability to interface and influence effectively beyond the immediate workgroup, whether at our plants or at licensee plants, on capital projects or with the business teams. Must be skilled in effectively using informal power and influence to achieve results (as opposed to formal authority). Must be able to develop and sell ideas related to current and significant issues and be able to understand and convey the business value of those ideas. Must be able to work within the context and discipline of a project management system and drive projects rapidly to decisions and implementation. Must be able to work effectively in a variety of roles within cross-functional project teams.
Success in this position will require (1) the ability to bridge a understanding of the process and catalyst technology with practical plant and capital project support skills and (2) the capacity to seamlessly integrate with plant and project teams to drive implementation of process and catalyst improvements, (3) the ability to develop technical skills in others, (4) the ability ensure that this process knowledge is appropriately captured within the Nitriles organization.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
ACCOUNTABILITY 1:
Provide expert level process chemistry support to manufacturing sites and licensees.
- Leads and provides process chemistry support to the manufacturing sites and licensees to deliver best in class performance.
- Evaluates and implements common opportunities across manufacturing sites to enhance value through networking with commercial, manufacturing, and technology teams.
- Evaluates opportunities, utilizes problem solving skills, and has a proven track record of providing innovative solutions that add business value.
- Provides high quality technical support to manufacturing sites and licensees.
- Develops and mentors new technologists to build the technical capability of the business.
ACCOUNTABILITY 2:
Leadership of the Nitriles process chemistry technology program:
- Leads the fouling reduction and recovery efficiency improvement programs for the manufacturing sites.
- Champions development and implementation of innovative and leading-edge technology.
- Provides technical leadership and makes a significant contribution to the businesses through innovative solutions to complex issues.
- Participates in the technology portfolio management process to prioritize process improvements including assessment of benefits and risk.
- Provides solid judgment in the economic assessment of new processes or process improvements.
- Provides expert input into the assessment of competitor technologies, capabilities, and impact.
- Leads best practice and use of Knowledge Management processes and tools.
- Ensures the capture and transfer of knowledge among Nitriles technologists.
- Writes and co-authors invention disclosures and patent proposals that protect the core technology and ensures its future trajectory.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contributes strategic and tactical business impact through development and implementation process chemistry-related technology.
- Has global impact in Nitriles and through consulting with other INEOS businesses.
- Contributes to INEOS Technologies catalyst development program through development and application of kinetic model(s) for ammoxidation.
- Provides high quality technical support to manufacturing sites and licensees, expert input into the assessment of competitor technologies, capabilities, and impact.
- Leads best practice and use of Knowledge Management processes and tools and demonstrates proper SHE practices by example.
- Manages work prioritization and assignments of other chemists/technicians.
Skills & Knowledge Required
Education/Experience
- PhD Chemistry required.
- A minimum of 15 years successful work experience in technology or manufacturing with demonstrated delivery of value is required.

Expected Salary Range:
$143,612.00 - $149,659.00 based on skills and experience
