ACE-USD-SALThe Power Distribution Technician uses their high voltage expertise to collaborate with engineers, planners, and other field personnel to ensure the reliable and efficient distribution of electrical power.

Accountabilities of the job:
Accountability 1: Meet all SHE objectives and comply with all governmental laws and policies while executing work in the Power Distribution area:
- Visibly supports and promotes the INEOS 20 Principles and the Culture of Prevention.
- All activities performed in accordance with established company, local, state, federal, and health safety, and environmental regulations and procedures.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are planned and executed in compliance with site environmental compliance requirements.
- Safety improvements on all pre-existing processes.
- Provides safe work permits to contractors working on or around high voltage equipment in the plant and maintenance buildings
- Verifies clear understanding of work scope, carefully reviews the type of work and potential safety or process reliability hazards.
- Takes appropriate action to initiate proper safety reviews (e.g., temporary job plan, confined space, hot work, etc.) when reviewing the work scope.
- Is aware of and responds to emergency protocols during shutdowns and startups.
Accountability 2: Executing maintenance activities in support of maintaining mechanical integrity of assets and protective systems
- Provide information such as switching orders, or distribution process changes.
- Prepare switching orders that isolate work areas without causing power outages, referring to drawings of power systems.
- Perform maintenance, repairs, and replacements of three-phase power distribution components up to 69kV and relay hardware.
- Maintains and reviews maintenance records on all power distribution equipment in the plant.
- Ensure the reliable operation of all high voltage equipment in the plant.
- Performs corrective and preventative maintenance tasks on all high voltage equipment in the plant.
- Actively looks for electrical reliability improvement opportunities.
- Trouble shoots failed/underperforming equipment to identify and/or eliminate root cause.
- Effectively communicates at a variety of levels, including the writing of reports on equipment condition and status.
- Inspects and maintains overhead power distribution lines.
- Performs visual inspections to identify system hardware issues.
Accountability 3: Supports project activities associated with the high voltage systems of the plant:
- Provides support to engineering project teams that install, modify, or will affect any power distribution equipment in the plant.
- Follows the progress of the projects ensuring that the power distribution equipment is installed correctly with all parameters being properly set for the desired operation
Required profile:
Level of Education & Knowledge:
- 5+ years relevant high voltage experience (greater than 480V) in a plant, Electrical Journeyman designation, NCCER Electrical Certification or NETA certification
- NFPA 70E – Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace
- Working knowledge of electrical standards as applied in petrochemical industry and general knowledge of various Codes (e.g. API, ASME, ANSI, NFPA, ISA, IEEE, NETA).
- Working knowledge of technical documentation associated with electrical design and equipment
- Knowledge and experience in executing preventive maintenance plans.
Experience & Technical Skills:
- Electrical Experience:
- Knowledge of and experience of troubleshooting equipment with voltages up to 69kV.
- Knowledge of and experience of working with high voltage substations and switchgear.
- Trouble-shooting skills along with the ability to read and understand P&ID, Relay Drawings, Electrical One-Lines and Loop Drawings.
- Knowledge of testing and maintenance of VFDs, transformers, large electric motors, UPS systems, low and high voltage switchgear, and low and medium voltage motor control centers.
- Safe switching practices, including creating and executing switching orders.
- Inspection and maintenance practices for high voltage equipment (480V to 69KV) including transformers, breakers, switches, and motors.
- Inspection and maintenance practices for overhead power distribution lines
