ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY
This is an exciting time to join a world-class manufacturing site due to consistent sustained investment by INEOS into its Petrochemical business. This investment on site at Grangemouth has created long term employment opportunities and we are now looking to appoint a Polymers Plant Manager.
The polymers business holds a unique place on the Grangemouth site and it has benefitted from the recent modernisation investment with new and improved plant laboratory testing, control room and real-time on-line analysis.
The successful candidate will have the experience and drive to work alongside and lead an established manufacturing team on our two world-scale polymer plants. This will involve utilising state of the art equipment and technologies to produce a growing grade slate of polymers.

The polymers asset, which comprises world scale Polyethylene and Polypropylene manufacturing units, is a key element of the O&P UK business at Grangemouth. These units are vital to the efficient and profitable operation of the business and produce high quality polyolefin products which go into a wide range of applications, serving a number of key sectors in the UK and Europe.
Key accountabilities
- Accountable for ensuring 24/7 delivery of agreed production plan and any agreed/enforced deviations.
- On a sustainable basis, establish and manage an Asset operating team with the competency and capability to deliver the required short through long term operating performance and associated improvement plans.
- Line manage all direct reports (and ensure same for 2nd reports) in compliance with policies and procedures to ensure current and future manning and development requirements are satisfied.
- Drive development and management of cross functional Asset reliability/vulnerability action plans/strategies to ensure Asset performance is continuously improved to secure medium and long term required performance.
- Develop and implement strategies in pursuit of operational excellence to improve operating performance in a sustainable manner without introducing unacceptable risks to the business.
- Manage the manufacturing area to ensure safe and environmentally sound Asset operation.
- Provide leadership and co-ordination all other functions/activities in pursuit of agreed current and future manufacturing performance metrics.
- Set demand for and co-ordinate all engineering, maintenance, technical and operational support to allow the Asset to meet the short term production plan and maximum EBITDA contribution.
- Adhere rigorously and promote Site and Asset standards/policies including 20 Principles and IGGN’s
- Provide authorisation/sanction of any operational deviations.
- Act as focal point for the Asset in all interactions with SEPA and HSE and other external bodies.
ABOUT YOU
We require a Plant Manager with relevant experience in manufacturing, to play a key role in the delivery and support of the growth in our business. This role is critical to leading the safe and efficient operation of the Polymers units and, accordingly, we are looking for an experienced degree-qualified manager with extensive experience in asset and manufacturing operations, preferably gained within a COMAH site environment. Polymers experience is desirable but not essential.
You should:
- Be degree qualified in an Engineering or Scientific related discipline (It would be advantageous if your degree is Polymer Science or Technology related).
- Have extensive experience in large scale continuous asset operations.
- Have strong knowledge of operating procedures/standards and relevant HSE legislation.
- Have experience of projects and scheduled plant shutdowns/turnarounds with specific focus on quality control and associated handover/commissioning requirements.
- Demonstrate ability to line manage, coach and develop numerous individuals.
- Have strong leadership skills with the ability to influence others at all levels.
- Demonstrate strong communication & decision making skills.
- Have experience creating and managing budgets.
