PM Outage and Chlorinator Rebuild Planner

The PM Outage and Chlorinator Rebuild Planner is responsible for planning and coordinating plant PM shutdowns, chlorinator rebuilds, and preventive maintenance activities within the CMMS (SAP) system. The role manages all required resources, including materials, services, and labor, to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and within scope. This position works closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to improve PM processes and serves as the gatekeeper for maintenance plans in the CMMS system.


Key Task and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and plan the PM work for scheduled outages
    • Includes managing the GANT Chart
  • Manage the scheduling and approval of additional planned work to be added to the outage
  • Lead outage scheduling meeting in accordance with maintenance outage policy A1-Maintenance Guideline 1.08 Plant 1
  • Maintain the PMs in CMMS (SAP)
    • Releasing and scheduling
    • Adding, changing, or deleting
    • Initiating Deviations
    • PM replated tasks and chlorinator turnaround rebuild activities; provide detailed planning for work order notifications/packages to include but not be limited to.
      • Assessing the scope of work to be done by
        • field verification
        • collecting drawings
        • specifications and procedures
        • welding QAQC plans etc.
      • Accurate preparation to assure quality work is completed on time and within the planned budget and complying with Workflow Maintenance Guideline 101.1.
        • estimating manpower of skill crafts
        • procuring material / services
        • determining special tools and equipment required
    • Leads and/or participates in the sourcing, bidding and requisitioning for third party services. 
    • Provide coordination required for utilization of the contractors as necessary including writing change orders and participating in pre-job/post job review meetings with outside service contractors to review job requirements.
    • Set up and delete spare parts as required to support maintenance activities using structure per Maintenance Guideline.
    • Aid with maintenance shutdowns and outages, off-hours coverage, supervisor coverage and rotating weekend duty as required.
    • Manage all aspects of chlorinator brick, mortar, refractory, ceramic inserts, etc. necessary for rebuilds (Note: Capital Projects team will manage purchase of refractory and provide technical support and training in refractory insulation)
    • Support purchasing with ordering, inspecting, managing inventory levels
    • Work with engineering to develop new lining designs and materials
    • Work closely with rebuild supervisor, capital project team, and purchasing to monitor the brick supplier on quality issues and deliveries, installation quoting and supervising of installations, along with the quoting and scheduling of the refractory removal
    • Support capital project team with the 5-year rebuild strategy/forecast for Chlorinator turnarounds
    • Support capital project team with cost estimates and developing CEA (Chlorinator Rebuild Expense Authorization) for each chlorinator.
    • Monitor spending of chlorinator turnarounds and initiate cost control measures to achieve approved spending levels and schedule requirements.
    • Maintain the rebuild documentation for each turnaround,
      • including non-routine repairs,
      • costs,
      • details of any changes/modifications to chlorinator, overlay or refractory design.
      •  develop new procedures as needed, or enhance existing procedures/guidelines detailing as needed
      • Work with drafting to constantly update all chlorinator drawings as to the current rebuilds design.
    • Maintain weekly chlorinator turnaround status and monthly spending reports for distribution to Management
You Should Possess: 
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent with 5 years in a skilled trade role or associate’s in science. Higher level education and leadership training a plus.
  • 2 Year of project management or maintenance planning experience
  • 5 years of manufacturing experience is desired to ensure a strong understanding of operating environments.
  • Experience in a leadership role is desired to develop and demonstrate the leadership competencies required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Consistently demonstrate high standards and model the appropriate behaviours.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and of manufacturing systems/machinery and components in those systems.  Experience with Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s).
  • Mechanical Aptitude; Use of precision measurement tools and assembly techniques, mechanical print reading.  Knowledge and understanding of Plant pipe specifications, pneumatic, hydraulics, pumps and motors. Equipment Vibration and Equipment Alignment Experience.
  • ISO System and Procedures knowledge.  API 510, 570 and 653 Experience a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of safety, environmental and emergency response requirements.
  • Understanding of SAP, chlorination process, chlorinator rebuild needs, purchasing, requisitions, development of cost budgets.
  • Excellent knowledge of SAP or equivalent with specific knowledge in the maintenance, storeroom, and purchasing modules. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Projects, Word, etc.) to develop rebuild timelines.
  • Will work additional hours and back shifts as needed to monitor chlorinator turnarounds/issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.  The ability to promote / maintain cooperative relationships among employees, peers and supervisors.
