ACE-USD-WAGEThe Outside Operator is responsible for the monitoring and operation of plant process equipment used in the Plasticizer manufacturing process. The Outside Operator evaluates the unit’s operating status and performs troubleshooting of processes and equipment in order to maximize unit reliability and product quality.
Accountabilities of the job:
This individual will document various operating parameters and maintain communication with others inside and outside of their department. The incumbent also monitors maintenance activities and performs minor maintenance. The Outside Operator must be aware of and follow all safety and security guidelines according to Company policy and in compliance with all applicable environmental, safety and government regulations. The Outside Operator role supports the Plasticizer asset.
The individual in the Outside Operator position is responsible for various duties associated with product manufacturing from raw material delivery to shipment of product that include the following:
- Responsible for personal safety, the safety of co-workers and promoting a safe work environment; responsible for carrying out all work activities in compliance with state and federal environmental regulations.
- Takes personal leadership role in daily activities, task planning, incident investigations and work performance as they relate to the INEOS"s key focus areas of Safety, Environmental, Quality, Reliability, and Cost of operation.
- Responsible for gaining and maintaining process knowledge of the unit and process changes to the unit, to enable effective operation and detection of unusual process conditions; uses knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Responsible for taking readings, utilizing plant data/control systems and observing process conditions on a continual basis to maintain good control of the unit.
- Provides accurate and timely communication to co-workers, and works with other functions to improve individual and unit performance. Provides ideas, raises concerns, and promotes an environment in which everyone is treated with respect.
- Responsible for performing minor maintenance on equipment.
- Responsible for placing systems in a safe condition for maintenance work through the Safe Work Permit process, supporting maintenance activities and communicating statuses.
- Ensure proper shift turnover by providing effective written and oral communications to the relieving shift that cover routine and non-routine issues, problems faced, unit operating conditions, etc.
- Participating in process safety improvement through MOC process, PHAs, Incident Investigations, and other activities.
- Participating in training and assisting in the training of new employees.
- Responding to emergency situations as required.
- Applying statistical tools to enhance product quality and participating on improvement teams.
- Startup, shutdown, isolation, and decontamination of plant equipment.
- Understanding and complying with administrative duties for government regulations from federal and state agencies.
Required profile:
Level of Education & Knowledge:
- INTERNAL: Internal Candidates for this position must meet one of the following qualifications:
- 1 year INEOS Logistics Operator experience & 2 years working as a manufacturing operator or equivalent in a chemical plant/refinery.
- Fully qualified INEOS Logistics Operator that has worked all qualifications for a minimum of 2 years (2-year timeframe starts on the day the operator receives last qualification sign off)
- 4.5 years working as an INEOS Logistics Operator - EXTERNAL: 18 Years of Age with a High School diploma or GED and at least one of the following qualifiers:
- 3+ years Manufacturing Operator experience; pumps, distillation, exchangers, tanks, etc
- 4+ years of active military experience in a role that is technical in nature; Applicant must provide a copy of DD214 military discharge paperwork.
- Knowledge of process, laboratory, and mechanical operations
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (i.e. OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, RCRA)
- Knowledge of PLC / DCS systems
- Possess skills, knowledge, and training related to implementation of life critical processes: LOTO, system and process openings, working at heights, hot work, confined space entry, energized electrical work.
- Basic knowledge of chemicals and their safe handling
- Knowledge of pumps, transfer system and piping diagrams
Experience & Technical Skills:
- Experience with safe work practices
