OSBL Operations Superintendent
Role Synopsis
Provides leadership, coaching, resources, boundary conditions, and motivation to help the utilities and waste treatment operating teams and the shipping organization successfully accomplish their performance contract targets and objectives in a safe and efficient manner. Reports to the Operations Manager. The position is responsible to ensure unit quality and costs are in line with plant objectives.
Key Accountabilities
- This position – and all positions – within the INEOS Aromatics organization requires that the incumbent commit to learning, following, and practicing the INEOS Aromatics 20 Principles of Process and Behavioral Safety as applicable to the position. Each employee must also commit to following the INEOS Aromatics Life-Saving rules and the site SHE Policies and Procedures including Stop Work Authority and Safe Work Guidelines on a daily basis.
- This jobholder must lead, support and promote/drive adherence to the 20 Principles for Managing Behavioral Safety and Process Safety and the Lifesaving Rules.
- Leads the safety effort of assigned team by setting expectations, participating, and leading SHE activities for their role. Some of these activities include Risk Assessments, training, incident investigations, Safety Observations, and audits. Completes corrective actions arising from those activities.
- Sets the standard within team and responsible area for Asset Care Standards and improvements.
- Lead the Unit Manufacturing Team (UMT) to meet goals and objectives.
- Facilitate development of clear team objectives/goals to support plant performance contract and scorecard.
- Ensure clear accountability and minimum standards for teams.
- Ensure consistent leadership expectations and development of Shift Supervisors
- Coach the Shift Supervisors to meet and exceed the requirements of their job. Facilitate staff appraisals, recognition and discipline process when appropriate. Intervene with personal performance issues as needed.
- Identify team/individual specific training needs and requirements and work with Operations Training Coordinator and Site Training Coordinator to meet those needs. Ensure operator training requirements are kept current.
- Drive operational consistency on key processes and procedures across shift teams. Ensure procedures are followed and kept up to date.
- Serve as communication link between unit team and other departments
- Champion safety and operations planning and execution. Periodically audit use of unit isolation blind checklist, plant operating procedures, and adherence to safety regulations
- Oversees Shipping operations and provides guidance to the Shipping Team Leader
- Responsible to ensure unit is fully compliant with all regulatory environmental, security and marine requirements.
- OSBL Superintendent interfaces with INEOS shipping and barges regarding unloading requirements at our marine facilities.
- Member of the plant Incident Management Team.
Essential Experience and Job Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 15 Years Industrial Chemical Operations Experience.
- Minimum 5 Years Leadership Experience (i.e. Supervisor, Maintenance Coordinator, Specialist, Superintendent, etc).
- Must be able to become the site subject matter expert for Marine Terminal operations.
- Ability to learn and comply with wastewater regulations
Desirable Criteria / Qualifications
- Wastewater experience.
- Marine Terminal experience
- ERT/IMT Experience

• Must be at least 18 years of age; legally authorized to work in the United States; and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., TN, H1B status), now or in the future.
• Must be able to fluently speak, write, and read English.
