THE JOB
This role is responsible to safely operate all sections of the plant to produce styrene that meets the internal manufacturing specifications.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Team Operations: Work within a team to operate the Styrene/Ethylbenzene/Utilities Outside and Board sections, Tank Farm, and other systems as required. Rotate through all systems to meet operational progression requirements.
- Safety & Procedures: Ensure compliance with INEOS Styrolution's safe work practices, complete safe work permits, perform JSAs, and actively use and adhere to all operational procedures.
- Equipment Maintenance & Monitoring: Monitor processes, conduct equipment checks, report maintenance issues, secure equipment for servicing, and return equipment to service after maintenance. Perform operator-assisted maintenance as needed.
- Operational Activities: Conduct rounds, including safety checks, equipment line-ups, and start/stop operations. Load trucks and railcars, catch and deliver samples to the laboratory, and maintain housekeeping standards.
- Training & Emergency Response: Successfully complete required training, participate in unit drills, and serve as an Emergency Response Team member if required.
- Documentation: Write and update operating procedures and SOCs to ensure clarity and consistency in plant operations.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
- High School Diploma or GED; AND ONE of the following:
- Process Technology degree from an accredited Program;
- At least 5 years’ experience as an Operator in a chemical plant, refinery or gas processing plant
Physical demands:
• Walk to any location in the plant over varying terrain including ditches, dikes and catwalks
• Climb 75' stairs and 200' ladders and enter vessels at various heights through 24" manways
• Wear, fit and use a respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus, earplugs, goggles, safety glasses, radio and any other safety equipment
• Manually lift up to 50 lbs.
• Differentiate colors to determine the status of equipment on the DCS
• Feel vibrations in pumps, vessels, motors, etc.
• Utilize audio, visual, and olfactory senses to monitor proper operation of plant equipment
