Operations Training Coordinator, OSBL

Role synopsis:

The Operations Training Coordinator, Outside Battery Limits (OSBL) is responsible for development and delivery of all training in support of the Operations team.  This person is also responsible for all operating procedures, including periodic reviews and updates.  Reports to unit Superintendent

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • This position – and all positions – within the INEOS Aromatics organization requires that the incumbent commit to learning, following, and practicing the INEOS Aromatics 20 Principles of Process and Behavioral Safety as applicable to the position.  Each employee must also commit to following the INEOS Aromatics Life-Saving rules and the site SHE Policies and Procedures including Stop Work Authority and Safe Work Guidelines on a daily basis
  • Manage and ensure procedures are up to date
  • Own, develop, and implement the annual and ongoing training program for Operations.
  • Coordinate unit specific Training for Safety & Reliability Training Days
  • Provide scheduling input for training to Superintendent / Supervisor
  • Provide an audit function in areas such as safety, productivity, procedures, and costs.
  • Provide back-up unit support during abnormal and emergency unit operations (SU/SD) as needed
  • Establish and monitor metrics to ensure procedure adherence
  • Manage Operations training for Pre-startup Safety Review (PSSR).

Skills & Knowledge Required:

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Fully qualified Cooper River Technician (Tech 4) or equivalent chemical manufacturing experience.
  • Must be able to fluently read, write, and speak English

Technical Skills and Behaviors:

  • Systematic Operation – Must understand/support critical elements to Safety and Operation and understand site procedures and practices to support delivery of the Operations Strategy.

  • Leadership - must be able to effectively demonstrate leadership to achieve both short term and long-term objectives
  • Technical knowledge of the units - must be proficient in all phases of unit operation
  • Decision making - must be able to make effective decisions with available data in a timely manner
  • Act in the best interest of the unit, plant, and company
  • Promote a low-cost environment that does not sacrifice safety, morale or reliability
  • Gains the respect of peers and superiors
  • Is able to effectively influence others even without direct authority
  • Is able to effectively coach others to improve their performance
