We are seeking an Operations Superintendent to join our Ashtabula, Ohio Operations team. In this role, you will provide oversight to ensure the safe, reliable, legally compliant, environmentally sound and profitable Operations of equipment for manufacture of products at this plant according to the strategy of business management.  This includes managing and developing internal Operations resources.  This is a salaried exempt, day shift position.  It is classified as a Safety Critical role.

About the Role: Specific Job Responsibilities

SHE Excellence 

  • Ensure operations and Operations systems and personnel are prepared to respond to site emergencies
  • Ensure robust safe work systems are in place and hazard assessments are performed (both process and behavioral)
  • Ensure assets are maintained to operate within their designed parameters and appropriate standards
  • Assure compliance with environmental permits and legal regulations
  • Drive to SHE (including process safety) targets and demonstrate improvements for employees and contractors

Performance in Role

  • Plan, coordinate and monitor the activities of the Operations team to ensure production and quality targets are met safely and efficiently in accordance with company policies, procedures and work instructions
  • Oversee monitoring and troubleshooting process and equipment; reports process deviations, equipment failures and hazards; assists in plant investigations and problem resolution
  • Oversee planned maintenance activities, project engineering and technical improvements in the area
  • Maintain and foster collaborative efforts with production, maintenance, reliability, engineering, other technical resource teams to identify, share, implement and maintain best practices
  • Set and meet budget requirements by efficiently managing resources, inventories and raw materials
  • Report on operational performance and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
  • Ensure that process systems are operated in accordance with safe operating procedures.
  • Issue daily operating instructions as needed to area operators
  • Reconcile daily production, working with the area Operators, Process Specialist, PMC, Manufacturing Engineer and Production clerk
  • Help to prioritize maintenance activities and execute Workflow procedure.
  • Oversee raw material deliveries and coordinate supply as necessary
  • Utilize manufacturing engineer and other resources to troubleshoot production issues and work toward resolution in a collaborative and effective manner

Leadership & Employee Development

  • Provide leadership, guidance, coaching and decision making, to ensure employees understand company goals and have the knowledge and resources needed to accomplish them
  • Manage personnel (including performance, compensation, succession planning and discipline)
  • Oversee Process Engineering personnel in the process design for capital projects that meet scope intent for operational requirements on safety, rate, quality, and reliability
  • Ensure an adequately staffed and trained department properly motivated to accomplish planned objectives.  Develop engineer’s technical knowledge through mentoring, coaching, and job assignments.  Develop and retain technical knowledge on the air separation process

About You:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required with extensive relative experience
  • A Bachelors of Science degree is preferred.
  • Possess a minimum of ten (10) years of related experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience as a supervisor/manager, with highly developed knowledge of operations or Operations
  • Leadership/management skills
  • Working knowledge of chemical/industrial equipment function, design, and regulatory requirements and Process Safety Management
  • Understanding of Chemistry and Physics
  • ISO System and procedures knowledge
  • Functionality with various computer programs, specifically Microsoft Office Suite and SAP
  • Six Sigma training a plus
