A. Purpose of the job: describe in 1 phrase what contribution the job is expected to make to the organization's objectives.

The purpose of this position is to control and improve the safety, quality, environmental performance, reliability, and efficiency/productivity of the Gemini, Polypropylene and Utilities assets at the Battleground Manufacturing Complex. This position sets the direction and is accountable for the effective utilization of all resources (direct and indirect) for the Gemini, Polypropylene and Utilities Assets in meeting business objectives and site performance measures in the short- through long-term.

C. Accountabilities of the job: describe the main results expected from the job.

Accountability 1:

Meet SHE objectives and comply with all governmental laws and policies:

  • Establish and implement strategies to deliver asset integrity, safety and environmental compliance for the Gemini, Polypropylene and Utilities assets.
  • Ensure that a comprehensive SHE management process including audits, corrective action tracking, and incident investigation is both followed and functioning for Gemini, PP and Utilities assets.
  • Organize and support emergency response.
  • Drive compliance and understanding of INEOS 20 Principles.

Accountability 2:

Meet operating plan for the business including cash fixed cost, variable cost, availability, and produce to schedule targets:

  • Develop key metrics to monitor all elements of Asset operating performance, in alignment with BMC and business objectives.
  • Develop, support and implement cost reduction strategies.
  • Develop, support and implement availability improvement strategies.
  • Ensure alignment and transparency with all plant and business groups.
  • Direct operations team and all support organizations to meet or better defined performance metrics.
  • Manage interface with all 3rd party utility providers to ensure reliability of supply and competitive performance in accordance with service level agreements.

Accountability 3:

Stewardship of People:

  • Identify the resource levels related to the Gemini, Polypropylene and Utilities assets to guarantee safe and reliable operations of assets in the short- through long-term.
  • Ensure robust succession planning for the organization.
  • Define resource levels related to training and development and deliver training to meet Asset competency requirements (including support organizations as appropriate).
  • Establish and promote the expansion of capabilities in the workforce.
  • Supervise a team of technical professionals, specialists, and technicians and assure appropriate professional and career development.
  • Identify and address any performance issues on a consistent basis.

Accountability 4:

Meet commitments between business and customers in the most efficient manner:

  • Execute Gemini, Polypropylene and Utilities production schedule.
  • Ensure uninterruptible Utility supply to the whole BMC site.
  • Ship all Gemini, Polypropylene products on time and within specification.
  • Provide all operational data input to meet Business reporting requirements.
  • Maintain and deliver site quality policies and procedures, and ensure close out of all non-conformances.

Accountability 5:

Ownership of the Assets capital program:

  • On a risk-based basis, define and manage the Capital investment portfolio to ensure all License To Operate, SHE, Sustainability and Growth risks and opportunities are addressed, underpinning the short through long-term success of the operating units.

  • Effectively communicate business strategies, plant strategies/performance measures and asset objectives/goals to all individuals associated with the Complex.
  • Visibly demonstrate leadership, ensure involvement, and gain commitment for improvement in all areas of accountability.
  • Strong field presence is expected.

F. Required profile:

Level of education & Experience in general

BS in Chemical Engineering. At least 10 years’ experience in petrochemicals manufacturing senior operational management roles.

Technical skills

  • Experience and knowledge in production process management, particularly Polyolefin manufacturing.
  • Expertise and deep understanding of both personal and process safety risk assessment management systems, and practical application through the organization.
  • Knowledge of environmental and quality management systems.
  • Understanding of project management principles and stage-gate processes.
  • Experience and knowledge of economic optimization.
