ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY
This role for a Process Engineer within the Operations team on the KG Gas Cracker asset is to provide operational and technology expertise required for delivery of the short term operating plan and longer-term plant operating strategy. This includes, co-ordinating all functions and providing leadership (without line management responsibility) to ensure safe, reliable and optimised delivery of the agreed plant production plan.
In order to deliver this you will be expected to:
- Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to the shift operating team for the plant area to ensure its integrity, safe and optimised operation within its design operating envelope.
- Develop, maintain and audit use of all technical and operating information and documentation required for the plant area.
- Audit asset operating standards through leading level 1 assurance reviews to ensure operation within site and regulatory requirements (RAP, PGI, RBI, OB’s, PSR’s, COMAH, PPC).
- Set internal priorities/demand for maintenance and technical support to ensure the plant area remains available to safely deliver the plant production plan.
- Monitor plant operations, diagnose adverse trends, define and implement corrective actions to achieve short and long term operating performance targets. Set demand on support organisation to deliver actions in accordance with required timelines
- Deliver the recovery of the plant from unplanned interventions by leadership of multi-discipline execution teams.
- Develop and manage all process documentation to allow safe operation and release/handback/recommissioning for all maintenance activities (OI’s, COSHH, release and recommissioning procedures).
- Train operating technician teams and supervisors in revised instructions and procedures to sustain and improve plant performance to match SHE, process safety, volume and efficiency targets.
- Specify area operating constraints/opportunities to allow definition of an optimised production plan for the asset.
- Lead specification of area modifications to deliver required improvements in SHE, volume, cost and efficiency targets in alignment with sanctioned plant strategy.
- Specify TAR workscope requirements for plant area and lead execution activities to support delivery of safe, on time and to budget events.
- Act as asset operations representative for project activities – setting technical/operational requirements for project and managing interface with asset activities for planning, construction and commissioning.
This role also has a number of additional requirements:
- Requirement to be contactable out of hours.
- Some periods of inconvenience to support planned and unplanned plant outages
- The post-holder will be part of the organisation’s Incident Management Response Team (IMT).
ABOUT YOU
You should have:
- Minimum Qualifications: degree in Chemical Engineering or the ability to demonstrate equivalent capability.
- Minimum Experience: Ideally, at least 2-5 years of operations experience in a manufacturing environment within a similar or equivalent industry. However, the relevance of the experience is more of a critical factor than the number of years worked.
- Proven technical/operational troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of all relevant manufacturing disciplines – Mech, I/E, Control, DCS, Maintenance.
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams (without line management accountability).
- Strong and wise decision making skills, both within and outwith area of direct expertise.
- Strong knowledge of site/area working practices to facilitate others to support aligned delivery of the short term operating plan.
- Ability to coach and develop supervisor/technician personnel.
- High level of communication skills, dealing with all levels in the organisation.
