The Millwright is responsible for completing maintenance work on mechanical equipment in a safe, effective, and efficient way.

Accountabilities of the job: 

Accountability 1: Meet all SHE objectives and comply with all governmental laws and policies while executing work on the mechanical equipment of the plant:

  • Requires that the incumbent commit to learning, following, and practicing INEOS 20 Principles of Process & Behavioral Safety as applicable to the position. 
  • Ability to follow standard procedure to ensure safety, environmental compliance, and high-quality work.
  • Verifies clear understanding of work scope, carefully reviews the type of work and potential safety or process reliability hazards.
  • Develop programs to reduce work related illnesses and injuries and improve operations productivity contribute to the protection of employees. 
  • Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Incident Investigations

Accountability 2: Executing preventative maintenance activities in support of maintaining integrity of mechanical and rotating equipment assets and protective systems

  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues with machinery, including includes tasks like checking motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines to ensure they operate efficiently.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to keep equipment in optimal working conditions.
  • Recording key measurements to facilitate analysis of failures and development of improvement initiatives.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for issues, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Measurement of mechanical parameters, comparison of these to standards and returning equipment to meet standards.
  • Collect equipment operation and history data to facilitate reliability improvements.

Accountability 3: Executing routine reactive maintenance activities in support of maintaining integrity of mechanical equipment

  • Troubleshooting operational problems associated with rotating equipment.
  • Removal and installation of equipment including alignment and testing to insure proper operation.
  • Read and interpret work orders, equipment manuals, and mechanical drawings to perform required maintenance.
  • Precision assembly of complex gearboxes, pumps, compressors, blowers, airlocks, centrifuges, and specialized extruding equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance schedules and have knowledge of general and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • When receiving warehouse goods and materials, confirm goods against purchase orders and delivery documentation to ensure correctness and proper condition.
  • Update equipment records, electronic and in SAP.

Required profile:

Level of Education & Knowledge:

  • High school diploma required
  • 2-year technical degree preferred
  • NCCER Millwright Certification required.

Mechanical Experience & Technical Skills:

  • Blueprint Interpretation.
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in an industrial environment
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of and experience with rotating equipment installation, inspection, maintenance and trouble-shooting to include process centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps (gear and rod), diaphragm pumps, reciprocating and screw compressors, axial fans, centrifuges, centrifugal blowers, and gearboxes.
  • Read and interpret work orders, equipment manuals, and drawings to perform required maintenance.
  • Apply rigging and lifting devices as needed to remove and install equipment.
  • Disassemble, repair, refurbish, and reassemble mechanical equipment per OEM specifications.
  • Install and troubleshoot mechanical seals, bearings, and gaskets.
  • Align shafts and couplings using laser and dial alignment.
  • Install and align belt and pulley driven equipment.
  • Lubricate mechanical equipment using best practices to prevent contamination.
  • Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Incident Investigations.
