ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY
The Polymers asset consists of two plants – PP3 and I4 both of which have reaction and extrusion process areas. The post-holder will be required to interact positively with others (e.g. Maintenance Supervisor, the COW/RAP team, colleagues, trainers, stores, suppliers, contractors, planners/schedulers personnel) to ensure the timely delivery of all work.
Key accountabilities
- Deliver and maintain work flow to ensure all statutory requirements and integrity demands are met in accordance with relevant GMPs.
- Examine mechanical equipment as directed within safety and operational procedures to ensure any potential faults can be identified in advance of possible failure.
- Examine faulty equipment as directed in order to accurately ascertain the root cause of the fault and make recommendations to prevent recurrence.
- Liaise in job preparation with planner and permit issuing authority to ensure job is ready to start, spares required for each job are available and the risks are fully understood.
- Accurately record all work carried out using a suitable CMMS to provide future personnel with an accurate history of work carried out, plant condition when last inspected, as built settings/clearances/dimensions etc.
- Actively assist and support contractors / vendors to ensure timely progression of maintenance activities
- Report any delays or significant issues in allocated tasks back to the Maintenance Supervisor in order improve the maintenance process
- All health and safety standards are adhered to and site operating procedures are followed at all times (e.g. Control of Work, COSHH, Manual Handling, Risk assessments, LOLER & PUWER etc. including the raising and follow-up of any issues/actions as appropriate).
Special features
- There may be some periods of inconvenience to support planned and unplanned plant outages.
- Individuals may hold specific responsibilities on behalf of the team (e.g. manual handling assessor, FLT driver, rigging/slinging, etc.).
ABOUT YOU
- Relevant technical qualification (SVQ level 3 / HNC)
- Knowledge of rotating machinery (compressors, pumps, blowers, RALs)
- Knowledge of alignment of rotating machinery
- Read and understand engineering drawings
- Use measuring equipment
- Work to close tolerances
- Use air tools, air drill & grinders
- Proficient with computer systems (Maximo, email, MS Word/Excel)
- Experience of torqueing flanged joints
- Experience of pressure testing
