The 300-acre INEOS Battleground Manufacturing Complex (BMC) was originally built in 1956 and is located on the Houston ship channel east of Houston, Texas. Currently, BMC produces both high-density polyethylene and polypropylene. The polypropylene line has a capacity of approximately 320 million pounds per year, and the seven polyethylene lines have a combined capacity of approximately 3 billion pounds per year. The BMC site has a state-of-the-art technical service center which integrates research and development, technical services and quality assurance.
Purpose of the job:
The Mechanical Reliability Rotating Equipment Team Leader (RETL) will work as a member of the BMC Mechanical Reliability Department in La Porte, TX and will report to the Mechanical Reliability Superintendent. This department consists of the Mechanical Engineers and Equipment Monitoring Technicians at the BMC site. Internal pay range is 35-36 depending on experience.
The RETL will play a key role in developing both short-term and long-term Reliability strategies for plant rotating equipment. The individual will track equipment performance by reviewing maintenance and reliability specific Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and other equipment failure data. The RETL will be expected to manage the mechanical equipment condition monitoring programs and provide guidance on the installation and repair of rotating equipment. The RETL will be a technical resource to maintenance, operations, and the Mechanical Reliability Team.
The Mechanical Reliability Rotating Equipment Team Leader will supervise a team of Equipment Monitoring Technicians and will be responsible for the development and coaching of these reports. The team will support all areas at the site.
Responsibilities AND Accountabilities
- The position is accountable for understanding and putting into practice the INEOS 20 Principles. Additionally, the team leader has a special responsibility to cascade the understanding of these principles through their team.
Accountability 1:
Manage the condition monitoring programs
- Improve and progress oil analysis, vibration, and lubrication programs to meet site goals and best-in-class practices
- Drive equipment repairs based on predictive equipment monitoring results and recommendations as well as Operations and Maintenance objectives
- Coordinate work on vibration and oil analysis systems with Equipment Monitoring Technicians, Maintenance personnel, and specialty contractors
- Manage workload and assignments for Equipment Monitoring Technicians
Accountability 2:
Provide Gemini Unit Mechanical Maintenance Engineering support for rotating equipment
- Develop and implement equipment reliability improvements
- Troubleshoot and investigate unusual or persistent rotating equipment problems
- Provide oversight on the repair of rotating equipment
- Provide unit Operations support
- Participate and lead RCFAs
- Participate in PHAs
- Capital project review
Accountability 3:
Develop long-range rotating equipment reliability strategies
- Collaborate with Mechanical Reliability Team on site reliability priorities and provide support on long-term reliability initiatives
- Develop solutions to global rotating equipment reliability issues
- Develop justification and improvements for precision maintenance practices site-wide
- Work with Capital Project group to define specifications for new rotating equipment
- Help develop equipment maintenance plans and spare parts strategy for rotating equipment
Accountability 4:
Act as resource/mentor on rotating equipment issues
- Advise Mechanical Reliability and Unit Maintenance Engineers on rotating equipment questions and technologies
- Develop training on rotating equipment and condition monitoring basics for new engineers and maintenance personnel
Skills & Knowledge Required
Education/Experience
The ideal candidate must have an engineering degree and a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a maintenance or reliability engineer in a manufacturing, mechanical, or process facility. 8+ years is preferred. Experience with vibration and/or oil analysis is also required. A strong drive, sense of urgency, and problem-solving abilities will be critical for the success of this individual. The ability to work across all disciplines and throughout all levels of the organization in a persuasive and credible manner is necessary.
