The opportunity

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for the execution of cost-effective engineering and maintenance plans for the assets at the Hull Site to achieve safe, reliable, high rate operations.

INEOS execute the mechanical plant maintenance with an in-house team, led by a Maintenance supervisor, a Mechanical Engineer and a Maintenance coordinator. All maintenance is recorded, planned and executed via a SAP computerised system.

The role is also intended as a potential development opportunity to acquire/demonstrate plant assurance experience such that the holder can progress into a Supervisor / Coordinator role.

Key accountabilities

  • Monitor equipment performance, maintain, repair and troubleshoot.
  • Be actively involved and provide suggestions on equipment performance and/or any problems experienced on equipment.
  • Manage spares for such equipment in conjunction with Maintenance Supervisor and coordinator.
  • Laser alignment of rotating equipment.
  • Practice preventative maintenance and use of specialised equipment.
  • Electronic recording of maintenance activities and interacting with the IT Systems, including: SAP, Excel, Word, Outlook, Power point.
  • Working within the Control of Work systems and accompanying SSO’s.
  • Supervise and facilitate people and work where required, including day to day supervision of contractors and service providers if required.
  • Assisting and facilitating in leak sealing activities.
  • Assisting and facilitating with HP Jetting when required – training can be provided.

About you

Ideally, we are looking for someone with previous work experience within the process/petrochemical industry who is familiar with Control of work and COMAH sites.

The successful candidate will be ONC qualified in an engineering related subject with experience of line management and working with maintenance teams.

The ability to progress a job from initiation to completion, including organising support services is key along with the ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.

You will be able to work in a flexible environment with staff at all levels, therefore excellent communication skills are essential.

A sound understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles are also essential to be successful in this role, these include:

    • Knowledge of Pumps and their application.
    • Knowledge of handvalves, types and use, repair.
    • Proficient in joint repair, gasketing and bolting selection.
    • Knowledge of Centrifugal and reciprocating compressors.
    • Knowledge of the following advantageous: Leak sealing, HP Jetting, Oil analysis, Vibration analysis, Laser alignment, Thermography, small bore pipe installation.
    • Knowledge of steam distribution systems, heat tracing etc.

As additional training may be required, you will also be comfortable to attend internal and external training courses to help gain or maintain competencies as part of your role.
