INEOS FPS

The Forties Pipeline System (FPS) is 100% INEOS owned and predominantly serves the central area of the North Sea. FPS has a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day.

FPS transports crude oil and Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) from over 50 offshore fields (including the St Fergus terminal) to the Kinneil terminal in Grangemouth. The crude and NGL products are stabilised at Kinneil where majority of the stabilised crude oil is then sent to the Dalmeny and Hound Point (DHP) terminal for tanker export.

Associated gas is also processed at Kinneil into dry gas (exported to the Grangemouth refinery) and propane plus butane which is sent for LPG export.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Export Engineering Manager, the post holder will provide day-to-day Mechanical Engineering support to the Dalmeny Hound Point (DHP) Asset.  The DHP Asset includes the Dalmeny crude oil storage facility and the Hound Point tanker loading terminal, both located in South Queensferry.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Provide technical support to tankage overhauls in line with inspection and other TAR type activities.
  • Lead discipline improvements in plant reliability, root cause analysis, defect elimination and continuous improvement. 
  • Where required, act as Single Point of Accountability (SPA) for Mechanical led site activity.
  • Support the maintenance team leader in regards to implementation of planned maintenance routines.
  • Work closely with the asset to ensure plant integrity is managed, take lead to ensure rigorous inspection and repair order management is maintained.
  • Responsible for monitoring technical implication of maintenance backlog and working with the maintenance team in regards to equipment breakdown; including investigation of fault, defect resolution and execution of breakdown maintenance. 
  • Responsible for technical approval of Asset Mechanical MOCs (Management of Change)
  • Contribute to safety reviews, risk assessments and investigations as the Discipline focal point. 
  • Contribute to site Risk Based Assessment (RBA)
  • Were required, lead and coordinate additional vendor support. 
  • Participation in the FPS incident management team as required
  • Adherence to INEOS 20 Principles for Behavioural and Process Safety.

Qualifications and technical experience

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering plus significant working experience
  • Experience of Oil & Gas or Chemical Industries.
  • CEng status or working towards
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships and influence with all personnel across the organisation
  • Self starter and internal drive to complete task/objectives and/or requirements within target dates/deadlines.
